micro stutters when playing video/youtube on second monitor, vsync jitters if fps isnt also capped
game ran as it should out of the box on hyprland, however when using second monitor to play a youtube video there would be microstutters. probably ignorable in general but annoyed me enough to mess around with it, found two fixes:
set the game to tear in hyprland.conf, this completely eliminates the stuttering, but the tears can become noticeable in heavy areas where the fps isnt 70+
run with the above launch command for gamescope. without "VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_wait" the game will freeze on loading, and without "--force-grab-cursor" the cursor wont appear inside steam overlay. runs perfectly with these settings with the single issue being the steam overlay shortcut has to be pressed in reverse for some reason. instead of holding shift and then pressing the other key, ] in my case, i have to first hold ] and then press shift. otherwise now runs as if native
works flawlessly ootb on hyprland
in hyprland, starts in a window regardless of in game setting. using hyprland fullscreen bind fullscreens it with no issues. seems like other ppl have issues on hyprland, the only thing i can think of is that i use a window rule to float all steam apps by default
VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_wait gamescope -e -f -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 60 --force-grab-cursor -- %command%
without gamescope borderless windowed displayed under waybar, windowed mode required manually fullscreening after any changes, and fullscreen caused issues using second monitor. gamescope + borderless windowed works as expected.
vsync + fps cap to avoid weird frame pacing
native has hitching when moving and zooming the map. proton runs flawlessly
