The launch option is necessary to avoid frame drops when moving the mouse after about an hour of gameplay. So if you experience that issue too, this might be the solution.
Can be played with proton instantly
My controller was not detected in windows and on Linux with Proton.
Because the Proton version works perfectly, I used it instead of the native Linux version, which requires an additional Flash library to function.
Works as good as Windows in Proton
I couldn't get fullscreen to work in the native version, so I switched to Proton. It worked just as well as the Windows version. The problem is that, even on Windows, the Legendary Edition has issues that the individual games don't. So if you can afford it, avoid the Legendary Edition.

For some reason, windowed fullscreen has a white frame.
The --use-d3d11
launch option improves performance immensly, even on windows, I wouldn't imagine playing without it.
I had to add missing libs manually in the <game files>/assets/linuxlibs
. Depending of your distro you may be missing different libs.
Linux native is not worth the additional tinkering, just use Proton.
As of writting this, the game works flawlessly. All problems have been resolved in the most recent update.
These parameters used to work perfectly, but not anymore
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
SteamDeck=1 LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
SteamDeck=1 as a launch option replaces some animation in the menu with black screens, not great but as long as the actual game runs perfectly it's all good.
