Game would crash immediately until downgrading to Proton 6.x. After some sleuthing around it seems to be failing to load MSVBVM60.dll
(a name I've not heard in a long time, the VB6 runtime).
After downgrading it ran fine, though I did get a couple of critical error popups and had to force kill the process
Occasional black flickering, graphical corruption or green screens (that disappear after a second)
Ubisoft launcher constantly shows a non-dismissable popup about incompatible graphics drivers.
Disable the overlay by opening Uplay from the system tray after launching from Steam, and disabling the overlay from settings
Ocassional bouts of lag (often followed shortly by a crash)
Often during a loading transition
Occasional keys getting stuck in a "pressed" state, requiring a force quit
I had one instance where the audio became fuzzy after several hours playing, and required a restart, but other than that it was flawless
Won't start
Out of the box, crashes immediately upon startup
Trying some combination of Proton versions and other posted tweaks (PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
, PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU
, WINEDLLOVERRIDES
), I can get it to play the introductory logos, but it then freezes on a blank screen
