Infinite loading screen when starting a new game.
It could apparently be skipped by using a save file, but I read the cutscenes do not work either.
The amount of bugs was too high, but I am not sure it was caused by proton as much as the bad port itself
Mouse aiming speed changes randomly, even with the mentioned fix. So I used a controller
A few random crashes (~ 5), mostly during second half of the game. The game is not missing save points, but it was still annoying
A lot of unpleasant bugs:
- vsync causes input lag. I had to disable it in game settings as well as nvidia settings
- Ingame vsync was also "required" for some parts of the game...
- Chapter 5, when you come in a room with a doctor behind a glass; without vsync he was invisible and I could not proceed
- Chapter 8, I needed it enabled just after the turret fight, otherwise it crashes
- Chapter 12, when you move an object and open bridges, from the room with a save point I had to enable it to avoid crashes
- During chapter 12, after reenabling vsync, the object got stuck. I had to save my game on a new slot, and load it to proceed.
- Corpses have a lot of ragdoll movement. It makes the game a bit goofy, creates some more sound jump scare, and make you think some creature's corpses are alive
- Jumping in zero G can sometime make you lag and die on impact. Did not happen many times and mostly in the first 2 zero G parts (fortunately, there are a lot of checkpoints)
I went through the whole game because it was good, but if you encounter as many bug as I did, I suggest you look for a way to fix those
To avoid fullscreen/borderless freezes, I set my game to windowed and hid top bars with gnome extensions hidetopbar and unite.
Fullscreen slows/freezes the game during cutscenes and on main menu
With latest Proton GE version (8-2), I no longer have freeze issues in fullscreen on main menu and during cutscenes
Great without anything done. A few lags (like with the Mumbai train crash), otherwise perfect (played a few dozen hours)
During some intense mission stories, some cutscenes lagged
The full screen issue required me to use a magnifying glass software
Full screen does not work, I had to keep the game windowed in its default resolution.
There were missing characters in notebook with proton 5, it was solved forcing the use of proton 4.11-13
If you're stucked with a broken full screen and alt+enter does not restore windowed mode, you can delete the datasc files, but it also includes save files.
Work well so far. (no setting to rebind keys)
Had to lower the graphic settings to medium, otherwise the framerate was too low
Performances were worse than expected. But I was able to complete the game without major issue
Animated loading screen is replaced by some placeholder picture
Had to lower graphic settings significantly
More than decent. Just watch the only bugged cutscene separately.
Some lags, but it wasn't annoying for a visual novel
The opening cutscene (happening after around 1 hour into the game) does not play. I had to watch it on internet, although I heard it can easily be found among the game files.
Despite huge launch screen freezes every launch (which you can remove), everything is fine (6 hours at the moment).
If you have freezing issues with intro screen too (or just want to get rid of start videos), you must rename some file in the GameSDK\Videos folder (within your game install folder).
The files names are "Ryzen_Bumper.bk2", "ArkaneLogoAnim_Redux_1080p2997_ST-16LUFS.bk2", "Bethesda_logo_anim_white.bk2", "LegalScreens.bk2". (thanks to steam user Plage)
No significant issue using Proton GE. Only the computer in route B that triggers a game breaking bug, so I had to avoid interacting with it.
Proton 5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Using Proton Glorious Eggroll 5.21-GE-1
- In Leon route B (2nd playthrough), using the computer on the reception desk triggers a game breaking bug (interacting is impossible until you restart the game)
- One of the ghost stories is stuck at start with an infinite loading
It seems nvidia users frequently have issues with this game. Lowering settings helped me avoid crashes.
"Hair strand" setting cause heavy artifacts
Having all graphical settings maxed out cause frequent freezes & crash. Had to lower some to be able to finish the game. Near the end of the game, there is one passage where I would systematically freeze & crash - had to lock framerate to 30 just to walk through that corridor, and set it back to 60 after.
Runs perfectly fine. Sometimes using steam overlay, some textures became buggy, but I fixed it either by going to the pause or the main menu (and it did not happen very often)
Run excellently. Disable virtual network adapter for multiplayer.
Had a virtual network adapter from virtualbox that I needed to disable for multiplayer: sudo ifconfig virbr0 down
Working properly (I had freezes using LXDE, but no more since I switched to Gnome)
No problem encountered so far, only have to install protontricks and add the two mentioned programs.
I had to use protontricks to install dotnet46 to be able to launch the game.
The audio didn't work for the dialogs, so I added the latest version of faudio as well.
Only then it looked fine, tested on shenmue 2 for at least dialogs, a cutscene and changing map.
Used protontricks to install dotnet46 and faudio. Run fine as long as I use my nvidia GPU (game does not start with intel card).
Installed dotnet46 and faudio
Had to lower the graphics a little because of some performance issues, otherwise it runs flawlessly
There were some inconveniences that can probably be fixed. Still playable without tweaks for me.
The audio is crackling and the font appears to be cut on top within dialogs (I felt like it improved a bit by setting text size to large).
It crashed once when starting the game. Otherwise it was fine, but I only played about half an hour.
Played more than 70 hours with a PS4 controller, without installing or tweaking anything
