I didn't try to play the game with Proton 5.13, I did select Proton 4.11 on the first try due to other people's experiences related here.
My game experience with proton was perfect, no issues, just click play and you are ready to go.
The game is trash, I was baited into thinking that it was a good game like Subnautica, but it sucks.
Install another launcher
5.9-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Mouse begins to teleport if the game is running lower than 60fps (I'm not talking about 15 or 20fps, at 55fps it's impossible to play due to random teleports and stuttering)
If you move the mouse around the menu options the game will freeze until you stop.
Imagine driving but randomly closing your eyes for 5 seconds
Plasma desktop lags severely if I alt-tab ingame.
Random stutters, and sometimes the game would freeze for 2 or 3 seconds.
To reduce performance loss I needed to download Proton-GE and add some custom launch options, which is pretty difficult to newer Linux users
5.9-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
mesa_glthread=true LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgamemodeauto.so
I can run the game at 40fps in Windows in 1920x1080, but in Linux I was at 30fps 1280x720, running at 1920x1080 gave me 16fps
If you don't mind "low" fps then you are good to go.
The game never goes above 45fps either "High" and "Normal" presets give me the same fps. 1920x1080 > 45fps 1280x720 > 45fps
Overclocking doesn't change the framerate too.
High performance loss compared to Windows, but still playable on my RX 550
Read the rest of this if you use an old AMD Card (Southern and Caribbean Islands)
Cards Affected:
- GCN 1.0
- GCN 2.0
- GCN 3.0
Which Means:
- HD 7000
- HD 8000
- R5, R7, R9 200 Series
- R5, R7, R9 300 Series
In my previous report I was using a R7 240 that doesn't have official support for the "amdgpu" driver, the game was barely playable, in SP the game ran at 25-30fps, and If I changed the resolution the framerate stayed the same (Windows Performance was 1080p 60fps).
In online the game were UNPLAYABLE due to high frame drops and a constant 13fps.
My final note:
don't try to install the amdgpu-pro using "Caribbean Islands" and "Sea Island" cards , you WILL fail and there is no support or thread in the internet that will help you, trust me, I tried.
to play at stable 60fps I think you'll need at least a RX 580/GTX 1060.
If I alt-tab and return to the game it will run capped 12fps. A workaround for this is enabling WineDesktop.
Runs very well in singleplayer, but in multiplayer it is like I'm playing in a GT 710. Singleplayer: Stable 80fps Multiplayer: 16fps on interiors, 30fps on the exterior.
The game will only run at 60fps if you run the native version, but running the game on Proton will solve all your problems.
Game runs perfectly, download Proton-GE, put it in the compatibility.d folder, select Proton-GE in the game properties, and play!
used Proton-GE to play the game.
in the native version skins work partially, while on the Windows version the skins work normally
Game works but without skins in the native version.
