Does not correctly launch.
Window opens, and title bar changes from "Angvik" to "Uncaught node.js Error." Tested against experimental and 7.0.1.
Works great w/ FlatPak
I had issues getting this to run on PopOS! for a while, an update eventually fixed that. Then, after switching to EndeavorOS, I had issues with the game not launching again.
Switching to the FlatPak version of steam got things working right away.
I'm using Proton Tricks to enable Cyber Engine Tweaks for mods, has caused no issues.
Tabbing in and out of the game will sometimes cause the game to cleanly crash to desktop. I'm not sure if this an issue with alt-tabbing in general or if it is caused by swapping workspaces on PopOS.
I've been playing with max settings across the board, no ray tracing or dynamic resolution, at 1920x1080. Frame rate has been great, and I'm looking forward to ray tracing support in future proton releases.
The majority of my playtime was on NVIDIA 470.86, after updating my driver things still appear to be running smoothly. All the mods I've tried via Cyber Engine Tweaks have also worked very well, although getting it set up was a little confusing as it was my first experience with winetricks/protontricks.
Switched to EndeavorOS over the weekend, and couldn't get Cyberpunk running. Today, after Cyberpunk's hotfix, things are working great and I'm getting a better FPS than I experienced previously. Tested against Proton Experimental and 7.0.1.
I was able to install the game and run it without issue.
There was a popup prior to starting the game telling me that I needed to update my NVIDIA drivers. I ignored it as was able to play just fine.
I experienced zero issues and it ran exactly as I expected.
Checked installation, that it loaded up and that I was able to launch into a mission alright.
I did notice a video test pattern that popped up for a second before the game's menu appeared. I no longer have Windows installed so I can't verify whether or not the game also does that there.
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
The game would regularly freeze when videos played (startup & pre/post match). Disabling Nvidia Reflex Low Latency mode fixed this.
Ran several short missions, the OLT and Klaw Raid. Performed well.
Audio issues on the final boss in Klaw raid. I've experienced similar issues on WIndows.
Significant frame drops in windowed fullscreen mode. Exclusive fullscreen fixed this for me.
When opening the launcher and when entering the game, an error pops up saying that the game cannot locate a graphics card. I hit OK and ignored these errors, was able to play just fine.
I also disabled tessellation, after reading reports of issues here. Did not check to confirm whether or not that is still the case.
Works perfectly in DX11. Intermittent/strange issues in DX12.
Under DX12 while using night vision (white), difficult to see in caves on meth house mission. It appeared as if there was a somewhat transparent texture or wall not far in front of me in some many areas of the cave. Could not verify if this is an issue on Windows as well.
I had the game slow to an crawl (1-6fps) in the main menu after exiting a lobby while in DX12 mode.
Game works fantastic. As noted, I had issues in DX12 mode and do not know what may have caused it or if there are simple work arounds.
UE5 game, which is notorious for being poorly optimized on midrange hardware.
Additionally, in order to disable mouse smoothing, and reduce input lag, you'll need to edit your "users/YOURUSER/AppData/Local/Stalker2/Saved/Config/Windows/Input.ini". Paste the following into that file :
[/script/engine.inputsettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False
--lua-heap-mb-size 2048
You'll want to add "--lua-heap-mb-size 2048" to the launch options. It helps avoid an out of memory issue that pops up if you play for many hours in a row.
