Home City and Campaign don't progress normally.
Campaign Progress and Home Cities do not load upon loading the game. The progress is being saved to file but the xml files aren't being loaded for some reason. I can update a home city inbetween campaign games but the cards I chose aren't available during the game: only the default cards.
Game won't work for me with the suggested tweeks.
Game crashes after the start up video when running proton 4.11-13 and with the "protontricks 105450 mfc42 winxp l3codecx" command. The game will not start for me in 4.11-13 without the command or for the other proton versions that are available to me.
Runs on Proton 4.2-9 for me. It does not run on any of the Proton versions 5 or 6 that I have.
Program shows black screen until the press of Atl+Enter.
I cannot change to windowed mode with the in-game options or with launch options. Full screen mode does not allow switching to other programs and back.
Does not work in native.
Rare crashes when starting a tactical battle. Not enough for me to consider it an inconvenience.
Game stopped working in native. Trying to launch the game leads to 26 files missing. Verifying game integrity does not help the native version launch. Works mostly fine for me through Proton experimental.
Command: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
No sound unmodified. With optional command sound works normally: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
All the important parts work for me with no modifications.
One of the introductory videos won't play. No game content appears to be missing.
Won't run on proton 5.0-7, 4.11-13, or 4.2-9. Won't run on Steam Linux runtime. Won't run on wine3d11.
Played through one time. Did not encounter the bug after the boss fight I usually encountered on Windows. If anything, it works better on my Linux machine then it did on my (ten year old) Windows machine.
Some audio cuts in and out. It happens so infrequently that it is barely annoying.
The game does not start properly from the launcher. Rename the executable for the base game to that of the launcher as stated bellow and the game should start fine.
Some menus are shrouded in a black screen. Moving menus around (knee board or ATC menu) or closing them leaves a black screen that won't redraw where the menu was.
I tried the "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" command as suggested. The game runs with significant enough graphics bugs on my set-up to leave the game unplayable. The bugs persist on the lowest graphics settings.
Works almost perfectly out of the box. The small issues I noticed don't impact the main game.
A campaign/scenario completion cutscene lowers the volume of the game. Saving and reloading the saved game fixes this.
When in winowed mode, cutscenes play in smaller window.
Game works perfectly in proton 5.0-5 on my machine. I use keyboard input. I haven't tried full screen.
+While playing on "Ultra" graphics setting, the game would crash whenever entering a settlement battle.
+I downgraded several graphics options (Textre Quality, Shadows, Water, Sky, Trees, Grass, SSAO, Cloud Shadows). No crashes since.
+I did not test each option individually. I do not know which settings are important.
+Game launcher under Proton v. 5.0-5 quits soon after starting.
+I cannot play the game with Proton v. 5.0-5
+Game launcher under Proton v. 4.11-13 shows with plain white screen.
+White screen launcher still launches game with mouse click on where play button would be.
A dedicated desktop for the game is needed to be able to use other programs with the game.
The only change I made was to run the game with proton version 4.11-13. It will not work with proton version 5.0-9 for me. I do not need to run with any commands nor do I need to rename the executable.
The 'R' key does not work in game when running off Steam. Can't rotate large buildings to place them. Works properly when launched from Lutris
