The lag at the start is annoying but after that it's fun
Lags like hell in the first 5 minutes but after that it's perfectly smooth
Everything worked perfectly
Can't log in in the game. You have to log in on the startup screen when first starting the game. All other network stuff works fine tho. Also the cursor is really fucked up. There are red lines all over the cursor and it looks fucking dogshit but at least you always know where the cursor is.
Extremely laggy. However they said they are working on a Linux port. yay
When going out of the game (only in fullscreen) to type something it would pick up the inputs
Runs at about 5-10fps with 5.13 and Experimental, wouldn't even start with 6.3
A great classic now finally on Steam and with no issues using proton
The first few times I started it it lagged but it seems to just have fixed itself after 2 days
Worked perfectly until the last update. Now "runs out of video memory" after a few minutes
The native linux version is borked and instantly crashes on startup and this works just fine sooo... ye.
Rarely stutters a little but in general really good.
Native is borked. Proton runs perfectly
Yeah so the native version crashes once you try to load/create a save and the proton one works perfectly fine with the exception for a few windows caps lock sounds (the one where you press shift too many times) here and there.
Only has some really minor not gameplay affecting issues.
Can sometimes be a little laggy while using fast forward
Going to the "redeem code"-menu can crashes your game about 75% of the time.

To get rid of the desynchronisation error you need to follow the steps from here https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2594#issuecomment-833121204
Tinkering isn't needed for single player, but multiplayer won't work without it
It's such a wonderful game and if you get through the first really painful 20 minutes it's really good
During the first 20-30 minutes of the game it constantly stutters and it's honestly unbearable. But after that almost all shaders should be cached and it runs perfectly. Then it should only stutters in vastly new areas. Launch options don't seem to change anything for me
Game doesn't exit but you can quit it through Steam
Works perfectly just how it should. Only for some reason the plant selection screen is extremely laggy but ingame it's perfectly fluent
Extremely laggy while in the plant selection screen. Runs fluid otherwise
On Proton Experimental it would start but the main screen would just be black. On Proton 6.3 it wouldn't even start to begin with.
So sad to see this wonderful mod not work with Proton let alone have a native version.
Works perfectly with Proton 5.13
You have to use 5.13 since with Experimental everything is black and with 6.3 the game doesn't even start to begin with.
The performance makes it completely unenjoyable
Didn't test singleplayer but I am getting around 8fps in multiplayer even though I got over 100fps before the 1.0 update of the game
Awful performance
I tried various Proton versions including 7.0, Experimental and the tinker version Glorious Eggroll. All of them had these performance issues
I'm actually surprised it runs so well considering it is almost 10 years old.
The Mouse Sensitivity is really low but accelerates really fast so you can move your mouse like 2cm but if you do it slow it moves half a pixel, if you do it fast it moves across the entire screen. I don't know if this is a problem with proton or just with the game but it definitely is really annoying because when you move your mouse you never know where you are gonna end up and just getting somewhere quickly and precisely is impossible.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Multiplayer works perfectly
Without tinkering (Proton 7 and FSR 1.0) I got ~40fps with regular frame drops. Using launch options, Proton Experimental and DLSS I get consistent 70fps
gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Xbox Controller doesn't work with SteamInput or Proton 8.0
Amazing, works out of the box, runs perfectly without linux-specific bugs
Really weird one here, if you were playing on windows and switched to linux it wouldn't copy over the save games at first, but after starting a new game everything copied over :D

Horrible performance, tried a few different proton versions but nothind did the trick
10-15 fps instead of the hundreds I'm getting on windows
Except for performance it worked fine
WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=4:0,1,2,3 gamemoderun %command%
gamemoderun %command% -window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=System
Works flawlessly
If you got issues like the mouse going offscreen constantly or the game not registering your mouse in the right side of the screen just switch to windows after putting all your characters & worlds in the cloud
