Game doesn't run without setting launch options. Instant crash

I do not have a windows save as i first played this game on my steam deck, Can't test what others have said below regarding save files.

While the store page doesn't advertise it to have Linux support there is a native build uploaded but it straight up doesn't work. If you force it to run with Proton the game works without any issues at all.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Without modifying the launch options, the game exits without error message within a second, not even showing the loading screen

The game didn't started when opened through steam library. I had to force the use of Proton 9.0-2 in the game's properties to play it.
Otherwise, the game ran smoothly.

Instant Crashing and Uncentered
Disabled Steam Overlay
Just switching the Overlay off was all needed

Fullscreen would minimize window, and upon maximizing it would go back to windowed outside of Steam.
I installed this using the GOG offline installer. It runs pretty well just with Wine, but Fullscreen doesn't work correctly. Adding the game to the Steam Library and running it in compatibiliy mode seems to work perfectly.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
when escaping fullscreen. screen turns black and wont go back

Proton Experimental crashes on startup. Proton GE used and it works, otherwise, just set `gamemoderun %command` and startup arguments.
gamemoderun %command%
Game crashes on latest Proton Experimental version.

Using normal proton caused the game to crash on startup. Using GE Proton fixed that

When I press play, the button goes to "cancel" and then "stop" and then back to "play". No window opens.
I tried different version of proton, installing a driver for my iGPU incase it was trying to launch on that instead of my dedicated one, and editing the launch options. No matter what, it would not open.

Only works after switching to Proton 4.11-13

Runs fairly flawlessly on SteamOS and ChimeraOS
Occasionally an Xbox controller wirelessly hooked up to the ChimeraOS Steam Machine would not accuately select blocks around the edges of an island.
Limited to 40fps
Game worked perfectly out of the box.
Flawless native experience out of the box, at least so far. I've played roughly 3.5 hours, no issues encountered.
For some reason protondb doesn't list Native as an option here.
El juego funciona totalmente bien con Protón, es una pena que el creador dejara de darle soporte en Linux
gamemoderun mangohud DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
The only problem ive had was it doesnt work in native mode because i played it beforehand on windows.Was solved by forcing 5.0-10
the game does not show its visual menu without Proton, or without `PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1`.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Enabling Proton and prepend PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
is enough to launch.
Works out of the box
Crashes if previously played on Windows - fix given below - Works perfectly after tinkering
If you have previously played this game on Windows and have cloud saves enabled, this game will not work out of the box!
Here is how to fix it: (If on Steam Deck, go into desktop mode)
Open this path in a file manager (e.g. Dolphin) "~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/751780/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/" and backup the Forager folder to a different location. Then delete the original one.
Steam -> right click on Forager -> Properties -> uncheck "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Forager"
Launch Forager and close it after it finishes launching.
Open the path from step 1 again and go into the Forager folder. Now copy over the contents inside the backup folder back into the original location. If you see a pop up asking what to do with already existing files select skip.
Repeat step 3
Re-enable cloud saves as shown in step 2 (just re-check the box). If Steam askes you about a file conflict, select to keep the local save.

Solution given above
This game would run on a potato natively. It works great on Proton too.
Works perfectly fine out of the box with proton ge, if your controller doesn't work it's a problem on every device, you just have to go into the settings in game and select controller instead of keyboard as your input.
I had an old saved game, which loaded fine, but I wanted to delete it. The deletion confirmation window that appears cannot be interacted with on the Steam Deck at all. I tried KB/M mode, controller mode, and touch provided no response. You have to force quit the game if you try to delete a saved game.
Game worked fine and controls were intuitive. Just don't try to delete your old saves on the Deck.
Runs as well as on Windows
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Needed to add PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% for it to start
Game launched and played fine via Steam Deck with no modifications required.
It just prompts for the input method (Mouse/Keyboard or Controller) every time the game starts and doesn't remember the decision. Apart from that it works perfectly fine.
Massive FPS drop when playing on 144Hz
I recommend playing on 60Hz
Best alternative to VOIDIGO
native is supported, but is behind on updates (no mods) because support was dropped so you have to force use of steam play and then itll be up to date :>
Steam achievements don't work when running it as native, need to enable proton for them to work
