Worked out of the box after fresh install. Only started it up and went into tutorial, so far no problems occured. .

Had an issue with Alt+Tab, the game went from full screen to windowed mode. Yet only 15minutes of time invested into it, will update my entry when I have more time to play the game and tinker around. . As with other Origin title, it took a while to load Origin client. It complained about a folder, but just ignored that.
kinda outdated hardware here, but it runs and the Steam Deck is just around the corner :)
Proton 5.13-4 with the start options below worked out of the box perfectly. Steam Controller works perfect as well.
As other posters already wrote, these start options work:

start Steam via Console with this command:
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json steam
on first install I went through mf-install, winetricks and trying different Eggroll releases as mentioned in several postings. did not work in first place. removed the game, reinstall and used 5.11-GE-2-MF (https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/5.11-GE-2-MF)
worked out of the box. no mfplat.dll needed
so far only 15minutes in. will update as I progress
If have no clue if the first run with winetricks and mf-install is somehow in effect after removing the game ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I guess not
worked with proton 5.0.9 out of the box, despite the adjustments regarding stuttering
fixed stuttering by installing Origin to custom folder on z:\ and chmod -R -w /steam/steamapps/compatdata/1237970/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application\ Data/Origin
and chmod -R -w /custom-folder-of-origin/
after first install game booted, but before the main menu it crashed with ""Engine Error. file corruption detected"" - did a file check through steam and it worked after that.
