Unable to connect to multiplayer matches with Proton 7.0-6 and Experimental. Some reports say it's working with 6.8.3 but I wasn't able to launch the game thanks to Ubisoft Connect refusing to work...
Singleplayer runs very smooth (Starts at 120 fps in a small village and then dips to 30 when viewing a metropolis at max zoom out), no crashes within 80 hours of playtime.
Works out of the box for me with Vulkan.
10 hours into the game. On 1440p max settings I'm getting 70-100 FPS. Haven't encountered any crashes so far.
Works flawlessly.
If you got an existing account outside of steam, use -provider Portal
to log in to that.
Cutscenes after Campaign missions won't play - all that shows is a black screen that you can skip by pressing escape. No biggie, can just watch them on Youtube. The game itself runs perfectly!
Runs fine out of the box
Graphical options turned to medium and rendering distance at ultra. First time launching the game took forever and I was stuck at a black screen for about one minute, but that was a one-time thing and didn't affect subsequent starts.
Scanning for far away resources sometimes causes a small lagspike, but for that to be an issue I'm scanning way too rarely...
Works like a charm out of the box
Even with 70 mods installed, everything just works out of the box like one would expect it to on windows.
Valve Index - Works perfect out of the box.
Loading times in between songs and scene transitions are a bit slow, taking about 5 seconds or so. Game is installed on an NVME SSD.
On today's Stress Test the Game ran at about 25-30fps outside and ~40fps during battles. Not too bad, given that it's turn based.
Runs butter-smooth on Proton 5.0-10. 5.13-4 has had some FPS issues for me, if you experience those, consider downgrading.
Runs even better one year later (v0.9.6)
At 1080p windowed I now get 140-180 FPS on Low and 40-70 FPS on Ultra settings without any tinkering or custom proton versions. Higher resolutions don't seem to work very well, but that might just be my GPU acting up (thanks, nvidia!).
The game eats up quite a lot of VRAM, and if you run a GTX 970, you'll have to play on low texture settings, or else the terrible memory layout of that GPU will cause some very nasty lagspikes. Quality can remain on Ultra, at least for me that yields a steady 40-70 FPS in 1080p even after long play sessions.
