PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
One area in game (the ball room) stutters when transitioning in or out. Nothing horrible.
The game freezes frequently in a black or white screen, when a image transition (next area, cutscene, etc) should occur. It can be worked aroung by using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
.

Performance runs too terribly to be playable. In this particular instance the console ports function better.
Certain rooms cause the game's performance to tank to under 20fps with no clear indication why or fixes available. Does not operate this way on Windows or even the Switch port.
Can't open the Unity Launcher either with the typical Shift+Click Play functionality, meaning you're stuck with the (very limited) graphical settings available in-game.
Unplayable, <10 FPS
Fullscreen needs to be toggled off and on again sometimes, windowed mode also doesn't consistently work
Unplayable, 10 FPS
I tried using wine
directly instead of launchin via Steam/proton, which got me up to something like 20 FPS, but regardless, it's still basically unplayable.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Game sometimes freezes during area transitions

Some slowdowns towards the end of the game, it seemed to push the deck a bit for some reason.
17 FPS Should not be acceptable to anyone
Game dips down to 17 FPS in some rooms. Performs even worse with WINED3D (13 FPS)

Works out of the box, played using XBOX controller.
The game runs at 15-45 FPS regardless of the selected resolution. Don't know if this is different from Windows performance.
Works without any tinkering

6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Installed and played without any problems
Works fine on Proton 6.3-2
Plays with no issues, good performance. Xbox 360 controller is automatically detected.
Works flawlessly
Works like a charm as long as you run it with "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%", as already stated by others.
crashes on startup, tried all the various workarounds without any progress

Simply setting "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" as a Launch option did the trick for me

Out of the box, the game gets stuck on area transitions and has to be forcefully terminated. Once I disabled esync, I was able to do a full play-through with no other issues.

On Proton it works out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked now as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Game works on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it workedwith this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but there are graphical glitches and text rendering is borked.

Running with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1, game is perfectly playable now. I suspect there is some graphical artifacts around the lady who revives you at the beginning of the game, but haven't seen the Windows version so don't know for sure.

Crashed on startup unless I disabled D3D11. Then usually hung with a black screen when starting a new game. Otherwise hung when attempting to leave the first room.

Game generally plays fine, however once every 60-90 minutes it will get stuck on the black "loading" screen when traveling between rooms. Since the game autosaves every 5 minutes or so, it's still quite playable.

Controller movement is screwed up, keyboard+mouse control works fine.

Intro + title screen works, but I get blackscreen when I click on New game. Tried disabling Esync and use Wine D3d11

The game would blackscreen after starting a new game. After I disabled esync, it worked pretty well. There were strange controller issues but otherwise the game ran fine.

Works fine

frequent crashes and hangs

Got a freeze after multiple hours. Game runs good but has some stutter when the next room is being loaded. Also got some frame drops in heavy crowded areas.

It is a DirectX 11 game, but DXVK was not loaded somehow, but game did run fine including audio.

The game freezes at random points. Freezes occur after between two and 15 minutes and then the game needs to be killed.

It freezes in the middle of the game, excessive loading times

Launches OK; sound is staticy, but that might be PulseAudio; freezes on black screen after starting a new game.

Sound crackles
