Game works perfectly out of the box. Only thing that doesn't work is the exit button - You have to use steam to exit the game.
Text is a bit small, but can be read nevertheless

TDP = 7 Watts, 8 hours of battery life
Added L3 and R3 buttons to back grip buttons
Some text is a bit small. Might need the magnifier sometimes to read stuff like CP count. Text is fine
Sometimes stuttering occurs in dense areas
No issues seen, works flawless.

Made changes to map the turbo button to R4 button (the one on the back)
Set TDP limit to 8, got around 8 hours of battery.
The CP bar was hard to read, aside from that some minor UI Elements that were hard to read too.
Crackling audio after coming back from sleep mode. A restart fixes this problem.
I had a very pleasant experience playing this game, it runs pretty well and plays incredible on the Deck, just make some tweaks to get that turbo button where you want (the default is the L3 stick button and you have to keep it pressed so it's rather annoying).

Aside from some small issues, this one works perfectly fine on Linux.
I could be wrong, but I get the feeling there's something wrong with the game's FXAA implementation. FXAA usually results in a slightly blurred effect, but here it produces a very distinct shimmering effect on objects in the background whenever the camera moves. You can switch to MSAA to remove this, but it is of course a lot more GPU intensive.
Furthermore, there is also a small issue concerning the water shader used in swimming pool scenes, where the shader effect bleeds into character model outlines when they stand in front of the swimming pool.
As others have noted, the game does not close properly. If you're using Steam, just close the game by closing it from the Steam client. That works without issues. Otherwise the game will hang.
Aside from the small issues noted above, you should take note of the performance here. The previous two Cold Steel games were initially developed for the PlayStation Vita, and as such, performed very well on PC (plus the fact that it received a rock-solid port). Cold Steel III and IV, however, have the PS4 as target platforms. As such, you should not expect the games to run on a potato like the previous two games did, despite not looking that much better.
I did not play this one on my Deck, but I expect it would be a fantastic game to play on it.

Full playthrough with a steam controller. Everything worked except exiting the game from the menu. I had to alt+tab and quit the game from the game page.

Works almost perfectly OOTB
I had some huge FPS drops in the forest area. I was playing with the maximum graphics option, so I suspect lowering that would have alleviated the issue.
Exiting from within the game causes it to freeze. You need to stop the game from outside when you want to quit.

Launch the configuration tool first instead of just launching.
When I try to quit the game it just freezes and I have to reset my PC since I don't have a way to force shut it. Not the most major issue ever but still annoying :/
One minor bug: When taking a screenshot, it takes several screenshots instead of just one. This causes it to constantly flash white for a while but stops eventually. Might be a me problem but I haven't encountered this issue on any other games I have played.

When you quit the game, it just freezes there and I have to restart my PC since I can't force shut it for some reason. Not the biggest problem in the world and its the only issue that I have had so far. However it is still annoying having to restart every time I quit the game :/
Also there's a little problem with taking screenshots because when I do it takes several screenshots instead of just one, causing flashing white which eventually stops but could be seizure inducing if you are epileptic. Idk if its my system since taking screenshots on other games works just fine.
Enabled toggle turbo and screenshots to back buttons for convenience.
Not really an issue but some of the UI is a bit small.
The exit button on the title still freezes the game on Steam deck. Need to close via the steam menu instead. So far only bug I've come across.
Everthing works great out of the box. High settings, 50-60 fps at max. Lock to 30-40 for better battery.
Locked 30 fps. 40 will work fine too
Sometimes UI is a little too small. Nothing too bad, but still.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
The game freezes when trying to exit the game from inside the game itself. Use steam overlay or the client itself to force quit the game
I wish Valve or Falcom/NISA/PH3 will do something about the quitting problem. The custom launch option is set because I don't want to deal with the problem if it does come to me and ruin my progress.
Custom Proton: GE, protontricks
Turbo mode enabled with L3, changed trackpads to D-pad
Limited FPS to 45, up to 3-4 hours of gameplay.
When suspending SteamDeck and resuming while game is running, the OST/background audio after resuming is out of sync and choppy. Restarting the game solved issue.
Can't exit game normally, Steam button -> Exit game required
Without Protontricks, movies might have issues playing, but aren't required for gameplay.
There's no issues playing the game. Movies work, game is stable and enjoyable with minor fixes.
enabled amstream, quartz and lavfilters
Limited FPS to 45, up to 3-4 hours of gameplay.
Can't exit game normally, Steam button -> Exit game required.
Without Protontricks, movies might have issues playing, but aren't required for gameplay.

When trying to close the game it freezes instead of stopping the process. Alt+Tab to steam and close it via the launcher works though.
Console preset with 10w TDP cap ~4-5h of playtime
Sometimes sound started crackling, but fixed itself after some time
Works like a charm - no tinkering, just download-start-play
Works almost flawlessy now do not know what was happening with my previous report. Use https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/SenPatcher/
There are a few crashes that I don't seem to get when I run this game on windows other than that the experince is equal or even better to that of windows in the case of performance

alt tab causes game to frezze
alt f4 or quiting trough the game menues frezzses the game

Without disabling esync, game will crash in approximately 15-20 minutes
Proton-6.15-GE-2
D-Pad and directional controls would sometimes double input on certain menus
In some areas framerate is a little low (roughly 24 fps) despite lowest graphical settings being selected. Furthermore this is inconsistent; in other areas framerate is much higher
Once ESync is disabled game runs fine. To disable ESync, enter command 'PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%' into the launch options for the game in Steam
Game cannot exit or close itself; process must be killed from activity monitor or Steam

The launch flag with esync needs to be dealt with. Once that's fixed the typical gamer would likely enjoy this game on modern hardware
'PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%' command required. If command is not entered the game will usually crash hard within 15 minutes
So an wireless xbox controller is not compatible; this is likely a problem with linux itself. Using a wired xbox 360 controller generally works. However the game will sometimes have input lag or even sometimes have double inputs; for example if I tap a button once it might actually input x2 or x3 times. This problem tended to be mostly exclusive to d-pad or directional axes
occasional slight stuttering despite lowest graphical settings
'PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%' is required in Steam Launch option for the game in order for game to function correctly
It runs for a little bit and then hangs with a loading screen.
Random stutters, especially during cutscenes
After a few battles a fullscreen story segment will start. here the game freezes with a loading icon.
Instantly freezes on startups sometimes (fixed by skip intro/logos)
Graphical performance is very poor compared to ToCS I/II
The game runs perfectly
Runs great after getting fsync kernel or disabling esync
sometimes the voice dialog is cracked but i noticed that in windows as well
need to use an fsync kernel
Running max settings with 60 fps and minor stuttering that might be due to the port. Get an fsync kernel and you should be good like xanmod or zen.
I'm playing the game on the lowest of settings, and the game runs surprisingly smooth for my borderline-potato hardware.
Possible minor memory leak (have to quit and restart about every 2 hours, especially if there's significant traveling in-game)
Game simply freezes on SIGTERM. SIGKILL needs to be issued to completely exit the game.
Had to run the game with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Crashes without an fsync kernel or disabling esync

No more ESYNC issues using zen kernel (or any fsync enabled kernel) and performance is now 60 FPS 4K w/ Med/High mixed settings
Still freezes when you try to exit from title screen, have to force close. But that's only a minor issue

There was no need to disable esync, however I do use fsync enabled kernel, so that might be related.
Game freezes when trying to quit. Needs SIGKILL to quit.
The choice for me is either enabling esync and dealing with crashes or disabling and get a significant slowdown.
Crashes every 20 minutes if you don't disable ESync. However, enabling Esync causes significant slowdown.
Proton-4.20-GE-1

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Fails to exit the game with esync off, but wouldn't call it significant
Resolved by changing launch options to PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%

Some minor "hiccups" here and there
Game crashes when you try to exit from the title menu

"PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" required to stop it crashing every 10~ mins or so
Some of the cutscenes show feet instead of heads to represent characters talking off-screen.
Fixed by disabling Esync

With esync crashes with "eventfd: Too many open files" despite having proper limits.
Crashes without esync every 15-20 minutes
