Steam version - A+
CGI cut scenes lagging out/ breaking
Works practically out of the box. I switched to 10.01 to try and fix a cutscene lagging issue i was having but it wasnt fixed. From further investigation it might be a system issue more so then the game. overall great performance.

Tried using other Proton version, the game hangs during cutscene, but it seems using GE-Proton10-1 is more stable

only able to play Neighbourhood Watch mode as the story mode freezes on the first Character selection
if anyone knows a fix please help out

fixed by disabling EOS Overlay.
Initial extreme shuttering already in intro and menu. Changing Proton versions, games setting to low make no significant improvements.
After disabling EOS Overlay game run perfect with high graphic settings.
Game is free as of May 20->May 22nd 2025 from epic games store. I am running on heroic launcher. Encountered TV static bars cutscenes and no background/black backgrounds at the starting menu.
I was able to fix this by making the game run Proteon - GE - Proton 9-27 for myself. Reopened the game and now i see the vibrant background and the cutscenes are actually showing. Everything runs fluid as of first hour in the game.

Game runa smoothly out of the box, no tinkering needed.

Missing cutscene video

Just worked for me

AS long as you are goin to force the game to use Nvidia GPu you will be fine :), (commands i mentioned below)
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only gamemoderun %command%
Game always startup on integrated GPU

The games has wine integrated and it installs itself out the box. But can't run. You need to use compatibility with proton hotfix and go!

It was runing with Proton Experimental also, but the installation and launch process takes forever.

some small text on the decks display (mostly epic services)
sometimes the game will crash, when you put the deck into sleep mode
First, the developer gave some instructions for a better steam deck experience (controller layout, virtual keyboard). Thats good. But sometimes the game will crash, when you just pause the game and put the deck into sleep mode.

Overall ran pretty decently on the Steam Deck. I went with medium settings and capped it at 30fps.

gamescope - w 2560 -h 1440 -f -e --hdr-enabled -- %command%
Game can't terminate Gamescope session. Have to quit to main menu then Alt+Tab and kill the game from Steam
I couldn't backtrack to edit, but there shouldn't be a space between "-" and "w", it should be -w
I had to uninstall and reinstall to get Epic to initialize from the Steam version.
The game plays fine outside of gamescope. I don't know enough about args to know if there is a way to force the game to use an HDR driver without --hdr-enabled -- ; Game will run in gamescope but you have to Alt+Tab and kill from Steam
I tried various Proton layers, various launch options, check all Steam settings, game doesn't launch

Flawless - played the entire campaign and two DLCs
Butter-smooth controls and excellent visuals. Install and go.

gamemoderun PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Um pouco de Stutter
Para o jogo rodar sem stutter precisa por um comando na inicialização da Steam : gamemoderun PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

radeonsi_disable_sam=true AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command%
O jogo tinha Stutter , porém usando o comando radeonsi_disable_sam=true AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command% e travando a 90fps no goverlay o jogo parou de ter esses problemas.
Obrigatorio usar radeonsi_disable_sam=true AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command% e travar o FPS.

The game slows down (with more unstable frametimes) constantly. Noticeable after an hour or so. Restarting seems to fix it.

Installed the game and played without any tinkering needed. It ran quite smoothly. I use GE Proton for most of my game installs by default so that's why the report shows tinkering.

No tinkering needed, just press play
I bought this game on Steam release day and was able to start playing right away. The performance was great, I managed to achieve an average 110 FPS in 4K with High settings. I haven't encountered any bugs or faced any difficulties during the 60+ hours of gameplay that took me to finish the main story and the two story DLCs. Great game and a great experience playing it on Linux!

Sometimes fps go to low 20s
I've capped it to 45 fps although usually it stays at 30 and sometimes on the endgame it goes as low as 20 for some moments. It's playable and I've enjoyed it, though
mangohud %command%

Connexion internet obligatoire dûe à l'accès aux services Epic Games :(
Quelques textes trop petits, comme les tutos ou la lecture des cartes de compétences.

Story is perfectly fine usually in a public server but i rarely get any one so it be a good run OTB no major tinkering
drop to 40fps and tdw 10 got 2 and half playtime

Game launches fine, but get errors when starting Singleplayer
Note sure if its just me, but neither proton Experimental or 9 were able to actually play the game

Rusn better than on my Windows drive get 20 more fps than usual on Windows I get 70fps and on Linux I get 95+fps
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
I get the Epic Store hate but it is optional only if you want crossplay with your friends on Epic which mine are, but the game is super fun solo and coop, also it precaches shaders at each boot even on Windows, do not skip this on either OS it lead me to some bad stutters, luckily it is a quick precache.

Just had to lower settings to "High". Game runs perfectly.
Sorry about the other reports. Wish there was a way to delete them. In any case, the game runs beautifully on "High" overall settings. Maybe there are a few individual settings I can bump back up to Ultra, but I'll keep it this way for now. I can't honestly tell the difference between the two settings in terms of quality anyway.

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Use proton experimental

Performance issues when entering outdoor areas.
Slows when entering outdoor areas.
Sorry guys. Scratch previous report, I wrote it too soon. Game eventually started to slowdown in outdoor areas. I'll have to do more testing, perhaps try a different version of proton. =(

Slow downs on AMD hardware, but can be fixed with a launch option.
Game slows down when entering outdoor zones.
If you're using AMD hardware and the game slows down, try using this launch command:
radeonsi_disable_sam=true AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command%
That command completely eliminated slowdowns. Oddly enough, I have to thank Hyperdimension Neptunia gamers for the tip: https://www.protondb.com/app/282900#0hYOw5nYKU

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only %command%
Played multiplayer with friends

Completely cuts out intermittantly, eventually leading to a complete X-Session freeze.
Complete system freeze, switching to a different Virtual Console (CTRL+ALT+F1 in my case) then back again will sometimes unfreeze the game. This happens quite often.
Crashes to desktop frequently if I don't change Virtual consoles right as the freeze happens. (After every other dialog or Encounter where the combat music changes)
I've tried various proton versions (Experimental, GE_9-4/8-32/7-55, and 8.0-5) same problem throughout each version. Denuvo prevented me from troubleshooting more since changing proton changes the "Computer" you play on.
works out of the box, no tinkering needed. no frame drops, no performance issues, no crashes. feels like native support
Protontricks to find the wine prefix associated with Dead Island 2 (example: /home/%username%/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/934700/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Epic Games/
Delete the Epic Online Services folder from this location.
On a windows machine (virtual or bare metal) goto the following folder:
c:\program files (x86)\epic games
Copy the folder "epic online services" to location you found earlier (example above).
Launch the game.
Seems that the game shipped with an outdated EGS install and it fails to update on Arch Linux.
runs great out of the box with proton 8.0-5

This game runs wonderfully on linux.
I was able to run for 3.5 hours none stop, no issues, no bugs, no problems.
