I tried various Proton layers, various launch options, check all Steam settings, game doesn't launch
gamescope - w 2560 -h 1440 -f -e --hdr-enabled -- %command%
Game can't terminate Gamescope session. Have to quit to main menu then Alt+Tab and kill the game from Steam
I couldn't backtrack to edit, but there shouldn't be a space between "-" and "w", it should be -w
I had to uninstall and reinstall to get Epic to initialize from the Steam version.
The game plays fine outside of gamescope. I don't know enough about args to know if there is a way to force the game to use an HDR driver without --hdr-enabled -- ; Game will run in gamescope but you have to Alt+Tab and kill from Steam
On desktop game requires "SteamDeck=1" Unless you use GE-Proton9-14 which includes the argument
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -e --hdr-enabled -- %command%
I had to switch to 9-16 to submit the report, ProtonDB can't detect the Proton prefix with the newest ones. But the game does run on 9-18 and that's how I've been playing it. Trying to use gamescope limits the refresh rate to 60hz though does allow you to enable HDR. Without gamescope I am only missing out on HDR. I am able to set refresh rate to 240hz to match my monitor and am able to play on Ultra settings with 144fps frame cap.
Had to run 'PlayRDR.exe' to initialize R* Launcher with Proton Experimental, then run RDR2 with GE-Proton9-12
Steam version would not launch on it's own. Had to run 'PlayRDR.exe' as a NonSteamGame with Proton Experimental. Followed prompts for R* install (did not change install locale). Once the launcher did it's thing and PlayRDR.exe stopped, I removed it from my Library, set RDR2's compatibility to GE-Proton9-12 (anything less than Proton 9 throws an outdated Windows error) and clicked Play. Game ran launcher install again and fired up.
Works with either Proton Experimental or GE-Proton9-11. I did have better framerates with GE.

When throwing the grapple hook, the axe texture does not apply correctly.
