Game is free as of May 20->May 22nd 2025 from epic games store. I am running on heroic launcher. Encountered TV static bars cutscenes and no background/black backgrounds at the starting menu.
I was able to fix this by making the game run Proteon - GE - Proton 9-27 for myself. Reopened the game and now i see the vibrant background and the cutscenes are actually showing. Everything runs fluid as of first hour in the game.
With this new detective update as of May 29th 2025, devs have announced they are stopping maintaining the native Linux build version, BUT they said the proton version is more reliable.
If you have this game preinstalled before the update, your steam will show a grayed out button along with a windows/apple only symbol next to it.
Force Proton and the game will reupdate. The button will turn back to green and your game will be functional again. Just did this and played the detective office multiplayer with no issues.
For people that need instructions spelt out like me: Properties -> Compatibility -> Force use of steam play -> Proton 9.0-4(this is the one im using, your effective proton version may vary).

Game works straight out from the install for me. Honestly the performance was way better than when i had this machine on windows!
Microstutters - tried adjusting via frame limit, vsync, windows/bordered/fullscreen, low quality graphics. Microstutter did not go away.
Game demo runs straight from install, microstutters occured for my experience.
Game feels fast and arcade-like. Was expecting moreof a ready-or-not slow experience.
As long as you come into the game with a faster mindset it can be an okay experience. Most of the maps i've played ran into had a 5 minute timer so you are compelled to rush it a bit.
Logging in for the first time had issues. Have to adjust resolution in order to functionally login

Login screen when you first open the game had issues where you're unable to type or click the boxes. Just like everyone else has reported, you have to adjust your resolution so game kinda recalibrates the login box. Then you're able to login.
I wasnt able to make an account on the game for some reason though. I ended up looking up the company's(amazing seasun) login website on my browser and made an account there. Then I was able to login and flawlessly play the game on my computer
Works as compatibility with proton. NE:1000 error fixed from other user's launch arguements.

Use launch arguements above. Was playing the game for a week just only using proton compatibility and kept getting NE:1000 disconnect error when the battles get chaotic.
Tried lowering graphic settings like others have said and kept getting the error. Internet speed was good so that wasn't the main issue from this NE:1000 error.
Tried the other people's launch arguments and the modifications had fixed my NE:1000 error. I have not experienced the issue in a few days. This new season(season 3) has been pretty fluid with the launch arguments.
Thanks for the fix guys, my game time has been enjoyable without that error popping up and kicking me out every 5 minutes.
