Works flawlessly

Works perfectly out of the box
The dev has been committed since the public alpha to making sure the game works on Linux and fixing any bugs that arise in Wine. Cogmind has always worked perfectly for me on Linux. There's also a non-Steam build that can be run with normal Wine.

Worked after reinstalling on the 'local' disk. Do not use mounted disks!
Great game. Wont start when installed on a mounted external drive. has to be installed on system disk
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f -- %command%
Had to use gamescope to be "fullscreen" or simply wouldn't launch, would immediately stop after "launching" with no clear error output. Using swaywm wayland.

unset SDL_VIDEODRIVER; %command%
Under X11 this worked fine with no modifications - under Wayland it required unsetting the environment variable as noted.

Runs perfectly using proton
played with keyboard

Outdated proton version can cause the game not to reach the steam achievement API

If achievements aren't uploading to steam, try changing your proton version.
Works perfectly out of the box
The game crashed on startup. I was able to fix it by deleting the old compatdata/722730
directory.
Literally the same as on windows

unset SDL_VIDEODRIVER; %command%
The SDL_Init() failed: No available video device
error was caused by SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland
being inherited by the Cogmind application. Being a Windows game, it needed a Windows video driver. Unsetting SDL_VIDEODRIVER
, to let SDL pick a default, fixed the issue.

Using the Steam Deck screen was far too small to read comfortably
Straightforward to install on the Deck and run using the older Proton version-- I recommend it for your 'docked' deck, because Cogmind is epic. Enjoy.
Crashes on startup with error `REX_Init() | SDL_Init() failed: No available video device`.
Runs very well, like-native performance with no changes to compatibility settings.
Work flawlessly.
A truly native experience
Everything worked perfectly out of the box.
Works as if it were native

Runs flawlessly OOTB

Works perfectly. Did not encounter any bugs with sound or alt-tabbing, and I am pretty sure the developer did some work to explicitly target Proton compatibility.

The dev is specifically building the game around Wine compatibility, so issues in general play seem to be few to none. That said, the game only runs fullscreen for me and attempting to alt-tab out of it has completely taken away control of the system every time I've tried, requiring a force-kill via emergency shell to recover things (which destroys the current run in the process). Make sure you're able to give the game your full and undivided attention before beginning.

I just ran the game & played for 10 minutes. All fine, performance & UI perfect

Repeated the test with updated mesa drivers. Everything ok!

Played a standard game with no problems. It took a while for steam to start the game on the first launch, but all the subsequent were fast. Awesome!

The game runs seemingly without issues, no crashes or visual bugs seen in several hours of playtime.

Runs smoothly, sound works without any problem.

Excellent performance. I was able to import my save files from Wine. Sound requires a workaround: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/226#issuecomment-417566315

Set fullscreen options to "Borderless Fullscreen" to allow mouse to leave screen on multi-monitor setups.

No sound at all. I use pulseaudio. The sound does work with Wine.
