The game might even be better on the deck with its suspend function, as it doesn't normally allow saving in arcade mode.
Used Steam Remote Play Together and there were no problems at all, we even reached one of the endings.
A really fun game to play with friends, and the local mp just works.

Using Steam via Flatpak. Only requires .NET Framework 4.0 to be installed via protontricks.

Crashes on Startup with Steam Play's Default Proton 5.0-9. Proton GE resolved this and the game has no issues.

As of 2020 you won't be able to simply install and run the game using Proton out of the box. You could half a year ago yet can't now.
Alt+Tab is kind of laggy with graphical glitches. Doesn't affect the actual gameplay nor windowed mode.
After installing protontricks dotnet 40 dinput I could not configure the button layout the way I wanted. The game wouldn't register any keys except for the arrows and num keys. Weird.
To run the game you have to install Protontricks. Here's the link.
Just follow the instructions for PIPX (recommended) and install Protontricks.
Then you need to download the game and first launch it with SteamPlay. Whether it crashes or not does not matter. It will create a wineprefix for the game.
Now open your terminal and type >>protontricks 674520 --gui<< .
Uninstall Mono.
Install DotNet 40.
Before you launch the game go to Steam, right-click the game > Properties> General > Set Launch Options.
Type or copy this >>protontricks 674520 dotnet40<< .
Finally, launch the game and it won't crash on start up now.
After 8 months, doesn't start up at all. It show the boot screen and then it simply closes. So sad.
No proton versions can run it as of now out of the box.

You need to download protontricks, then run "protontricks 674520 dotnet40". You also may need to uninstall temporarily your local distro wine to setup dotnet40 (version mismatch error).

Still requires installation of dotnet40 to prefix (674520) using winetricks/protontricks. There may be error messages on launch which can be ignored; to get past black screen on launch simply mouse click anywhere within the game window. Perfectly playable apart from the aforementioned issues.
The game crashes after a few seconds, installing .NET4.0 through protontricks doesn't resolve anything, now the game won't boot at all.
Regression in 4.2-9. Game freezes during "bootup" sequence and now requires dotnet40 to be installed manually via winetricks/protontricks to work properly. If you get a black screen, mouse click anywhere within the game window to start.
