Everything Works
Except all server choice is 0ms, which is you cannot play solo queue, unless have atleast one teammate in order to play the game

requests focus constantly during loading
The game (NOT steam) often randomly needs to read THE ENTIRE GAME FILES on launch (~80gb) and continues ingame! installing on an SSD is unfortunately mandatory. Major updates require deletion of /steamapps/compatdata/594650 and /steamapps/common/Hunt Showdown 1896/users/Shaders. Fullscreen sometimes breaks the menu (choose full windowed)
Otherwise, better frametimes on linux make the game feel much smoother than Windows

Does not connect to Hunt servers by default, launching with Proton Experimental fixes this
After playing for 900 hours on windows 10/11 and having many performance issues over the years, I was surprised to find that Hunt ran very well out of the box on Linux. However, it did not connect to any servers by default (ping for all regions showed as 0ms). Only tinker needed was using Proton Experimental, which resolved this issue.

After changing post-processing to very high, everything works perfectly. Surprisingly stable! Using experiemental, but haven't tried others.
Heavy flickering/orbs from sun rays. Setting post-processing to low, very high, or ultra fixes it entirely for me.

Since the gamma slider doesn’t work on Wayland, I switched to X11. On X11, I created a simple script to boost gamma before launching the game. I also changed Nvidia Settings > OpenGL Settings to High Performance. In Steam Settings > Downloads, I enabled Shader Pre-Caching and Background Processing of Vulkan Shaders. That’s it! Happy hunting.

Lots of EAC 0x4000a recently.
Seems pretty random, works on some days, doesn't work on others, maybe event related?

You can play almost the same as on Windows, except for the problems that the game itself has.
Randomly may start to crackle, but may not.
Weird mouse input sometimes, same as on Windows, this is problem of game. (not connected to crackling)
Sometimes game have a perfomance drop in certain areas, haven't seen that on Windows

gamemoderun %command%
Unplayable with post-processing set to medium or high. Small defects on very High and Ultra post-processing. No defects when set to Low post-processing.

See notes.
Sun glare causes little UFO green orb to orbit head
From all maxed settings on Win10 at 4k to near slideshow frame rates on medium settings at 4k. Due to large amount of ram on this particular machine tried disabling swap and reducing swapiness to 0- both resulted in significant performance improvements. Still running a reduced resolution (1920x1080) but some settings to high, looks ok and is playable at ~70 fps. Nvidia proprietary drivers.

found i have more fps on GE-Proton9-26. However, i could not connect to region servers without being on the latest GE version. all other proton versions (including Valves proton) could not connect to regional servers

Sun rays appeared weird resulting in odd artifacting, only occured once.
Must set Proton Experimental to the Bleeding Edge Debug Beta In Steam. Game is stable otherwise.

Alt+TAB Bug is gone with 2.3 Update. Game is stable. No other Bugs. Set Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge.

As soon as the 2.3 update hit I found that my ping to every region server showed as 0ms, and I received a "region is currently unavailable" message if I tried to enter the matchmaking queue. Searched on the official Discord and found that this has been fixed in Proton Bleeding Edge:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3898#issuecomment-2755097140

Game has better FPS on linux than windows, even if you need to wait a few hours on event launches for fixes like this to play.
Set your Proton Experimental to beta "bleeding edge bebug" then launch hunt using compatibility force Proton Experimental.

"The region you had previously selected is not available anymore. Please select a new region." Settings>Region: "(0ms)" in red color.
| sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="1000 1000" | and | sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647" | didn't work. Also didn't work with "Proton Experimental" or "Proton 9.0-4"

0ms all Region's

Seems to be a network comunications issue after latest update.

Game works well, gamma settings do not work, and mouse sensitivity settings in game don't work as expected.
In game gamma setting has no effect
In game mouse sensitivity settings have no effect

rarely missing marker textures in map
switching to experimental fixed steam overlay
I can't play because all regions are showing as invalid

Must change Post-Process Quality to Low in graphics settings.
Post-processing causes lighting artifacts if not set to low.

The frame loss was pretty high
a bit of cracking, but nothing major, I also used Discord
Even tho game told me I have high FPS, I was experiencing a lot of lost frames

Servers are unreachable if you don't use this in terminal :
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647"
Sometime i have lag spikes without knowing if it's personnal lag or proton's lag

Tried 9.04, Hotfix, Experimental, UM version
Upper third of screen, mostly green flickering/wrong-colored textures that flicker between normal and greenish
When Alt-Tabbing out of the game the game does not come back when tabbing back in (black screen)
Works really well with Pop! Was very happy to still be able to play a personal favorite after migrating my daily driver to Pop!

If you know you have to avoid Deadfall Timber, Grizzly Lodge and Port Reeker then it's a great game. The studio has its flaw's.
Sometimes after the Game crashes, the ambient sound of the bayou like flies and crickets sound will still play. To fix this, you need to reboot your PC.
Borderless lets you click on your other screen if you have one but re-clicking in the game freezes 80% of the times the game so you need ALT+F4 and restart the game to fix it.
11,8 GB VRAM gets used in one match over time with medium settings in 3400x1440, that makes the game slow down untill it's unplayable with maybe 15--30 FPS extremely stuttery
After tabing out 80% of the time, the game freezes when tabing in again and then crashes fully. Even in Borderless Window mode, the game runs fine until I click in the game again. Performance:Significant Performance Problems
UPDATE: Freezes and crashes completely if I go near the compound's Deadfall Timber, Grizzly Lodge and freezes / crashes near the bridge in the compound Port Reeker to Alice Farm. The graphics driver crashes and resets, at least that's what KWin notification always says in these moments.
Brightness settings can not be adjusted at all. Max and Min settings are the same. In night maps I can't even see the Ground without a Lamp, the Moon or any other light source (inside). That makes it extremely hard to fight dark Skins at night in dark corners. A Possible Fix is to Enable HDR (at least in the KDE settings) but the colors are very SDR. But with enabled HDR settings, the Game is very playable.
I hope everyone can enjoy this game and that all the Bugs get fixed from time to time, like some Linux special errors already did get fixed in the past. Every Update is a Gamble that we can not play the game, for the longest time I had to wait was about 5 days. But the Proton Team is amazing. Thank you Guys. Without you, we couldn't play this game.

Fps seems to be alot worse than it used to be. Feels like high frame time, but frame times are the same as windows. Not a smooth experience.
Windows gives 120 fps @ high settings. Linux gives 120fps @ low with frs quality.
Performance seems to have taken a hit as of late. Was not this bad a few months ago. Play on windows

When the CPU usage got to a certain point the audio would crackle
When moving through vegitation I noticed the game slowing down
Make sure to run sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647" in terminal to get the server list
latency high but overall smooth experience. artifacts with medium and high preset. hdr not working.

As long as you don't go near Deadfall Timber and inside Port Reeker and enable HDR in your KDE settings, it works flawless and is very enjoy
Audio plays sometimes even after the game crashes completely. The best way to fix it is to reboot.

Game ran smoothly, artifacting was only issue once region fix applied.
Graphical artifacting once loaded into the game. Nothing on the menus.
Followed this guide to fix the region unavailable issue: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3271410303&searchtext=kubunt
Running nvidia 570 drivers, game ran well other than the artifacting which would be reason enough for me to not play till I can get it fixed or play on windows. Appeared as green orbs on the screen, worse when moving.
Issue with Region not available solved by command. Thanx steam guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3271410303&searchtext=kubuntu
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647"
small artifacts graphical. Post processing

Crackling when using Discord while playing
Heavy Artifacts when using Hardware Acceleration, especially in Performance-Mode (more appearing when using Nvidia, but also appearing on AMD)
10-20FPS less than on Windows
The game started on my secondary monitor, which is on the left side of the primary. I fixed it by using the following commands for wayland: "xrandr" (to identify your monitors name) and then "xrandr --output --primary" to delcare the primary monitor

you need the launch command line only if you want HDR and may have some performance issues
game-performance gamescope -W 3440 -H 1440 -f --force-grab-cursor --hdr-enabled -- %command%

gamemoderun %command%
working perfect

Crash on startup, no startup sounds either
Installed dx3d9-43, dx3d11-43, dx3d10-43, dxvk (latest)
Game crashes on startup, doesn't even get to best experienced with headphones. No crash log. Just straight to desktop.

gamescope -W 3440 -H 1440 -b --force-grab-cursor gamemoderun -- %command%
outlines on players aren't smooth.
blood has a white outline
gamescope is required otherwise you can't alt+tab out of the game, even when running windowed the game would just freeze
10-20 fps less than on windows
EAC kicks you out if you have the game installed on an ntfs drive.
Use proton experimental bleeding edge
Install method: I could not get EAC to properly load with a steam deb package install, going to flatpak all my EAC games (hunt being the big one) just worked out of the box.
Flickering green and blue dots all over the upper part of the screen are present, this can be fixed by setting the "Post-Processing Quality" to either Low, Very High, or Ultra
I have 900+ hours on windows with this game, the only thing been holding me back from linux the past 8+yrs has been the games, this year I want that to change with all the process in this space the last 2-3 years, but hunt is a big hurtle for me since its a big part of my game time. Over all other than the graphic issues and having to install steam via flatpak, played about 5 hours and its golden for me thus far.

Only worked after I switched to proton experimental in steam with 'steam library -> hunt -> properties -> compatibility -> force -> proton experimental', AND switching experimental over to bleeding edge ('steam library -> proton experimental -> properties -> betas -> bleeding edge'). Otherwise it would crash after EAC or hang on a blackscreen.
