Fun enough city-builder
Upgrading lots of buildings at once causes the game to seize for a moment.

Had problems with the mouse position in native, proton works perfectly
I tried to play the native version and to push buttons, the mouse pointer needed to be below where the button was drawn. Switched to proton and haven't had this problem.

Works better using Proton instead of native. on Native there are some performance problems at least in my case.

In the Native version, I got a black bar at the bottom of the screen and the mouse is shifted up to its height.
Black bar at the bottom of the screen
Mouse is inaccurate, shifted up to the size of black bar at the bottom of the screen
In the Native version, I got a black bar at the bottom of the screen and the mouse is shifted up to its height.
Thus, I recommand to use Proton instead of the native version. No problems with Proton so far. I get 120+ FPS in 1440p with Proton.

Won't start without removing/renaming the Launcher directory in the game files
It won't start because of the Launcher folder in the game files. Deleting or renaming fixes the issue

XCURSOR_SIZE=32 %command%
Laggy input in native version. Small in-game cursor (fixed with edited start options)
Recommended, the game runs good using Proton 9.0-2.
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
The game would not start using my dedicated Nvidia GPU. The solution was to change the launch options to what I have listed.

-NoStartupMovies -dx12
Would crash when hitting "play" on Steam. Deleting the launcher folder skipped the launcher, but allowed the game to actually run

Text is a little fuzzy.

-NoStartupMovies -dx12
Game might crash after extended gaming sessions or after placing too many buildings on a map. Windows users have also reported similar issues so I don't believe this is specific to Linux.
The game runs very smooth. I've only used Proton Experimental due to other ProtonDB suggestions (Native might work well but no reason to test it). You may need to rename the "Launcher" folder located at ../steam/steamapps/common/Tropico 6/Launcher/ to disable the default launcher. Game works very well with minimal issues.

Gebäude standen aufeinmal im Wasser.
ca. 10% weniger Frames im Mittel beim gleichen Spielstand

mangohud gamemoderun %command% -NoStartupMovies -dx12
You can remove the launcher folder to skip it on game start. Ingame mod.io mods manager does not loads in Proton version. DX12 version works the best.

If the PC suspends due to inactivity, when you resume playing the performance drops to half. Forcing you to restart the game.
The performance of the linux native version is significantly worse than using proton.
El Presidente welcomes you to Linux
When in full screen, the hitboxes for the UI are moved upward; this makes clicking smaller buttons difficult. Need to alt-tab away and back to the game to remedy this.
Intro video a little bit sluggish when started the first time, could very well be Vulkan shaders compiling. Otherwise runs perfectly smooth.
Switching languages required a deletion of the Proton prefix(not destructive when using Steam Cloud Saves) ; seems to be a Steam on Linux problem rather than the game's(Languages are handled over Steam's repositories)
Das Spiel ist eigentlich Nativ für Linux , läuft aber besser mit Proton.
Start Video macht Fehler , aber sonst läuft es besser als Nativ
Follow Der Musterknabe's advice. In addition, I couldn't get DirectX to install properly. I just killed and relaunched Steam after it had been on step 3/3 for while, and it worked.
Works better than native version
Ran quite well about the same as Linux version maybe slightly faster
Slower then MS Windows but ran the game nicely
On Steam Linux Runtime, this game crashed in the loading screen. With the fix below, it works with Proton without any problems.
- Navigate to
{PathToYourSteamLibrary}/steamapps/common/Tropico6
- Delete the
Launcher
folder, e.g. by usingrm -rf {PathToYourSteamLibrary}/steamapps/common/Tropico6/Launcher

5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
The game crashes after around 1 hour of playing.

5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Using Proton instead of the Native Version will raise your performance rate
The hack that has been talked about needs to be used. After that, this game played better with Proton than the native version. I found it more enjoyable to play this way. The native version crashed to desktop on both, my desktop and laptop. I have played for 25+ hours with no issues on my laptop with an XBOX controller.

Kalipso Launcher will crash right after start but it can be bypassed by removing the "launcher" directory. After that game will work perfectly, even better than the native version.

i have to remove the launcher in order to make it work, after that runs smother than the native version

I initially installed the native client for this game, but since its using OpenGL, I re-installed to use the Windows version on proton, and it runs better on my system. Its nice that a native client exists, but as long as it doesn't use Vulkan, I'll keep using the proton version.

This is report for a beta version of Tropico 6 which is windows-only. Pretty much everything works out of box. On the 1st run white screen will appear after the initial loading. That's supposed to be a message from devs but it does not displays properly. Press ESC and it won't appear again.
