The game works well enough overall, with crashes being the biggest problem, although seems to be reduced/nullified with some Proton versions
Had to use GE-Proton7-31 in order to open and change configuration settings.
I experience frequent crashes on everything I tried other than Proton 4.11-13
Using GE-Proton7-31 I was able to open and change the configuration settings, including the resolution without issues. However, upon actually playing the game I encountered frequent crashes. I experienced crashes on several different versions of Proton until Proton 4.11-13, which I have managed to play for over an hour without any crashes using. Note regarding the settings (such as voice language) within the game itself resetting every time you start the game back up. This is not a bug, as the settings are actually attached to the save files. The settings on the main menu will always be default, but when you load your save you will notice that your settings are what you chose before starting. The main menu is purely for starting new game.

The game crashes reliably during the prologue, so is unplayable.
Crashed on completion of the first Classmating sequence - game is unplayable.

Configuration tool is not working.
Windowed is set to the Vita’s native resolution of 960×544.
Ingame setting will reset each time you launch the game.
Random crashes.
• First of all, the configuration utility is not working and will display a blank screen. As a result, it is impossible to change the ingame resolution. As windowed is set for this game to the PS Vita’s native resolution of 960×544 (we are talking about a port), the game will kind of look blurry. I tried some solutions explained in other reports with protontricks, but enabling Window 7 compatibility in winecfg won't work. It is maybe possible to go blind on the blank screen as the cursor will change but good luck for finding the very good setting.
• Older Proton won't even launch the game.
• The ingame setting menu (for switching between ENG and JAP voices for example) will reset each time you launch the game.
• Bigger issue is that the game will randomly crash. After a cutscene or just while playing, the game can shut down without any warning. Older Proton, GE or Experimental didn't help. I tried several times and I didn't find any clues of what could trigger the crash, some runs are ok and will go without issue, while others runs won't even go further than the main screen.
• As a result of the random crashes, the game is not in a state of being playable on Steam Deck as you may randomly lost your progression.

6.19-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
the main menu by itselph is verry slow and the game has significant slowdown's. still trying to find the culprit.
With proton 6.x the works ootb. The settings menu still doesn't work but it isnt required. You can resize the window the game is in to get the desired resolution.

Set compatibility mode to Windows 7
use Proton: 4.11-1 proton 5.0, 5.13 will not not work & Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 in winecfg
Tabbing out and resizing the window will change the resolution. Setting it to use the lastest 4x version is simple.
Fullscreen config in the configuration menu is broken. Can be set by manually editing config.json
Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 in winecfg for the game's configuration tool to work.
The configuration tool's resolution drop-down-list doesn't supply any resolution to choose from, so playing the game doesn't appear to use the correct resolution. The game also has small black bars on the left and right sides that seem to indicate this as well.
The in-game options menu doesn't actually save any changes made to it after restarting the game. Not sure if this is because it never actually writes these changes somewhere so it doesn't load it in future sessions, but that would be my guess.
Changing the application compatibility mode in winecfg to Windows 7 is required for the game's configuration tool to work.
The game's configuration tool didn't supply any resolution options from its drop-down list as it was supposed to.
The configuration tool's resolution drop-down-list doesn't supply any options even though it's supposed to, but does if you run it with the GloriousEggroll Proton fork, though that version of Proton can't run the game.
Found that 4.11 works after reading that another user got an older 4.11 version to work on the Proton GitHub (though not personally ideal to me).
The game's configuration tool didn't supply any resolution options from its drop-down list as it was supposed to.
Choosing options from the game's main menu doesn't save those changes in future sessions after the game has been closed.
Despite what I said about the game not working in current newer Proton versions, the game does however work in 4.11-13, after I did some reading on someone getting an older 4.11 version to work on the Proton GitHub.

Doesn't Run With Proton 5.0-9 or Proton-5.9-GE-ST
Doesn't run with the latest Proton or the Glorious Eggroll custom Proton.
Don't know what's the cause of the issue.
Aside from that, the configuration tool doesn't let you select a resolution in regular Proton but does let you in GE Proton.

The game does not open anymore on proton 5.0.3
Not a huge downgrade as the game was already unplayable, but something makes the new version not open the game even with launch options set. On older versions the game opened and didn't show anything aside from audio when PROTON_USE_WINED3D was inserted on the game's launch options. It doesn't do that anymore. If PROTON_OLD_GL_STRING is added to the launch options the configuration tool runs, but it has the same problems as on older versions if not paired with PROTON_USE_WINED3D.

Unplayable, menu is dark aside from some text
Unplayable right now, after enabling WINED3D the game is able to open, the initial video plays but no image is shown anywhere on the game, probably some problem rendering sprites. If you select an option on the menu while blinded it's possible to see some text and enter the game, the ingame map/menu is black the same way as the main menu, some text renders and the map song plays fine.

They can play the game just fine, but the choppy anime scene might lower the enjoyment
the anime scenes are chopped despite the sound is playing well

use Borderless mode for full Fullscreen

The game launches and runs in the background and I can't access it. The configuration utility doesn't recognize any screen resolutions and launching the game from the utility gives the same results.

Still doesn't launch.

does not start at all. have tried disabling esync and dxvk but nothing. going through the config i see the resolution is blank. havent figured out how to fix this yet.

configuration tool launches but otherwise the game CTD's immediately.

Starts and runs on background but main window doesn't show up and you have to kill the process. Configuration tool launches correctly but doesn't recognise resolutions or save settings.
