On proton 5.0 and 9.0, the game has major stability issue. It has gotten to the point that it crashes randomly every 10-30 seconds on chaos stronghold mission. I have tried many things, but only by switching to proton 3.7-8 did it fixes the stability issue. Other proton version may or may not work, but I didn't bother to check.

Keyboard doesn't work, I can only use my mouse
Just the camera zoom mod.
As mentioned in other reviews, the camera zoom mod is necessary with modern resolutions/monitors.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
Online requires 3.7-8 with the PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 startup option to avoid "sync error" a few minutes into the game.
It appears to work great with default proton versions, but actually proton versions newer than 5.0-10 drop to a very low frame rate when there are lots of units in the battle, and versions newer than 3.7-8 don't work for online play as the game keeps disconnecting ("sync error"). Best to install the camera mod that allows you to zoom out https://www.moddb.com/games/dawn-of-war-soulstorm/addons/camera-mod-for-dow And the mod that increases the sky/fog radius and drawing distance on the single player maps when zoomed out https://www.moddb.com/mods/increased-fog-distance-sky-radius/downloads
Need to set proton version to 5.0-10 or it has massive slow downs when there are many units on a map. Switching to 5.0-10 makes it run perfectly. It's a good idea to install the camera mod or everything is too zoomed in: https://www.moddb.com/games/dawn-of-war-soulstorm/addons/camera-mod-for-dow And for single player you also need to increase the sky distance with this mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/increased-fog-distance-sky-radius/downloads
In Ubuntu, disappearing mouse cursor can be fixed. Alt-tabbing should be avoided. Otherwise it's fully playable.
-fullscreen
Missing textures after alt-tabbing
Flickering mouse on fullscreen on Gnome, Ubuntu
Flickering mouse pointer, could only be followed while moving
The out-of-the-box experience in Ubuntu is not good for this game. This is because Ubuntu has Gnome as default desktop. A disappearing mouse pointer is a deal-breaker in this game (it's mostly played with mouse), therefore it must be fixed somehow. I fixed it by switching to XFCE. Windowed-mode is another fix, but not an acceptable solution for this game. This is because the most common method of moving the camera around is just sending the mouse cursor to the screen edges, and that won't work in windowed mode.
С опциями PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command% производительность игры лучше на моем железе
Исправляется изменением строки по пути в файле SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Dawn of War Dark Crusade/Drivers/spdx9_config.txt с allowhwcursor 1 на allowhwcursor 0
С любым proton старше версии 5.0-10 заметные просадки по производительности, частота кадров сильно падает на крупных картах и при большом кол-ве юнитов и действий в игре.
Works great with no customisation required
I'd highly recommend the camera mod to allow the camera to zoom further out.
The default camera is a tad claustrophobic on larger monitors.
If you experience slowdowns on large battles with a lot of units on the map, stick to Proton 5.0-10
Some unit audio like after capturing a point doesn't always play.
Long map load times and large framerate drops on big battles with any Proton version above 5.0-10.
Gnome 41.1 on X11
With Dawn of Skirmish 2.6 (AI mod). Mod installer works with WINE.
Works perfectly fine

Works fine. Good game.
Framerates drops really fast in fullscreen mode. With window there is no issues.
When there is a lot of action game starts to hiccup or framerates drops.
Gnome3 on Wayland with radeon driver and 5.11 kernel
Simply works as advertised. Couldn't be happier with the results.
External mods are not working. Still a beautiful game worth playing.
Alt-Tabbing will make the entire window black and it can't be interacted with, even to close the game. Had to killall -9 darkcrusade.exe to use my system
When playing multiplayer skirmish with my friend if I played as the Orks I would instantly resign when the game starts. Tested multiplayer with (so far) the Necrons and Eldar and it worked fine. Orks still work in single-player skirmish.
I was able to unlock the four original races in multiplayer by owning the GOTY version. I had it installed (with proton), didn't need to do anything else and even that step may not be needed due to the game now having steam integration.

Works Perfectly

Multiplayer works perfectly

Works great.

Works perfectly out of the box

The game plays at widescreen resolutions, which it didn't do on Windows. So, that's pretty cool. The increased width really screws with the viewing space making it almost unplayable at 2160x1080. You need to download the map zoom mod which installs just like it does in windows and works perfectly.

No issues whatsoever. You will need the camera zoom mod if you are playing on higher resolutions. You can get it from the pcgamingwiki.

Mouse cursor is flickering

One Crash-To-Desktop during several hours of play.

Sometimes in great battles perfomance slowning down

No noticeable issues
