finally after getting NTSync in Cachy's Proton we can get this game working reliably. just make sure you are using the native cachy version
PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 taskset -c 0,2,4,6 %command%
this tweak should work with any proton version that supports enabling NTSync

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Imho one of the best feeling twin stick shooters.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Game won't run without disabling esync and fsync.

Runs perfect with this launch option. The fsync one gives much much lower FPS (like 50). With this command I get 144 steady.
taskset --cpu-list 0-3 %command%
Black screen without launch commands.

taskset --cpu-list 0-3 %command%
It doesn't work
For my case look like the issue is with the number of CPU's cores. Once I limited to 4 , I did not longer needed the FSYNC and ESYNC options, only use "taskset --cpu-list 0-3 %command%".
I hope everyone can test this configuration to see if work for most of people.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 taskset --cpu-list 0-3 %command%
The game is really playable, above 50 FPS most of time and really fluent.
Multiplayer is not available.
Game really playable and you can enjoy it. Enable the most recent proton versión and in my case I did use the following launch options:
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 taskset --cpu-list 0-3 %command%
Most of time I play above 50 FPS really smooth game play.
Game does not boot at all
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1

É possível concluir o jogo, mas o desempenho não é sempre satisfatório e o modo online não funciona.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
De vez em quando algum mundo fica muito lento.
O jogo não conecta aos servidores.
A ausência do modo online prejudica algumas coisas legais no jogo, como personalização do personagem e os próprios leaderboards. Ocasionalmente o desempenho fica péssimo e a única solução é fechar e abrir o jogo.
The game launch but when hit play it will go black screen. Use: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%

Steamdeck does get hot, ~82°C with listed launch options. No stuttering, stable 55FPS
Add to change the launch options. Without doing that, the game would get stuck in a black screen when loading the first level.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Game freezes irreparably after completing the third stage (Fire Caverns)
Unfortunately this game needs work still. No getting around the issues fully that I've seen.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
Server Connection Failure
Without the launch option, Level doesn't start
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
The game will only launch to menu and not work any further without the start option.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
Without the launch options the menu loads but the level does not. Just a black screen that had to be force quit. With the launch options it works great.
Game would start without launch options, but couldn't play
PROTON_NO_VSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
Without the launch options it would at least start the game and get to the menu. But once I selected the difficulty level the screen would go blank. The music was still playing but it was basically frozen. If I did add the two launch options that others recommended the game wouldn't start at all.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
Unable to get past the menu
As soon as I start a level, I get an infinite black screen. Many people say that disabling Fsync and Esync fixes it, but If I add PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 to the launch options the game doesn't even launch. Completely borked for me even using multiple versions of Proton and Proton GE
Flawless.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1
even with all settings turned down to low and the resolution lowered the game did not run all that great
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
No leaderboard access
Disabled fsync and esync, otherwise levels would not load

Launch Options: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
Finally it runs well and stable with some tweaks at 60 FPS. It would run out of the box but very slow at unplayable 5 FPS.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60

my start options: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 MANGOHUD=0 gamescope -f -w 1920 -h 1080 -- gamemoderun PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 MANGOHUD=1 taskset --cpu-list 0-7 %command%
stutturs with more than 8 cpu cores
won't start run levels
Disable Esync

Worked for me. Didn't play very long tho. Nvidia's fullscreen compositor slows graphics down a lot.
Only menu worked on my AMD machine without disabling ESYNC. Not needed on Intel it seems.
It's a lot of crash
Drop frame rates
The game don't start the run most of times, and when did, if i restart, happen the black screan

The performance is really bad compared to a Windows run.
Could not connect to the server.

The game has a huge memory leak, it crashes after few minutes.

Has a lot of frame pacing issues (it skips several frames) and the worst, a HUGE memory leak issue, couldn't even finish the first level without crashing the entire computer because it ran out of RAM.

Runs out of the box with my kernel compiled with fsync. This game has memory leak issues which makes this game unplayable after 15 mins of gameplay.

Game runs okay. But it frequently maxes out my ram and crashes. Framerate is terrible.

Performs well at start, but space leak makes it unplayable. There's just enough to complete level one, but everything after that can't be finished.

Runs fine after disabling Esync. However uses a lot of RAM, it was using over 12GB of my 16GB, and with other programs open would max out RAM usage and cause system freezes while it reallocated memory.
performance is playable and responsive but couldn't keep a consistent 60 on my system, often hovering in the 40s.

I wonder how this game deserves anything better than a "borked": don't you play the games you test or do you stop after 10 minutes anyway? Because for 10 minutes it runs absolutely fine with diabled Esync, but then it's over - everytime. Any mode you try, it will be time limited until your RAM fills up and the computer starts to shovel data to your hard drive and back, to stutter and effectively stop the whole PC, to leave you only with a hard reset of your PC. An absolute shame for such a great game!
