Native version sucks - Latest Proton works fine.
There is an issue with text rendering on the native version, and it seems some on this page did not try it with Proton before posting... But it works fine on the latest version.

The framerate is far too low to be enjoyed
Text in menus is barely readable
Very low framerate in what is essentially just a viewer for a 1996 ASCII game.
Runs but poorly

When not using fullscreen, the pointer can escape the game window. This is fixed by switching out of and back into the game. Using fullscreen mode seems to prevent the problem.
This game was originally made for DOS (with ASCII "graphics" which are still an option) and was designed for keyboard input. While a mouse is supported, every in-game action has a different key command. This game is playable without a keyboard, but not using a keyboard makes it frustrating to play.

Heavy flickering
Low framerates
Text in the native version occasionally becomes near-transparent, and cannot be scrolled. Regular proton also has this issue. GE-Proton resolves this issue but has heavy screen flickering.
Text is missing on Standard Proton version you need to use GE to see the text but other than that it works perfectly.
Native version displays too transparent text, you can safely play using Proton (I guess any version would be fine)
Native version has issues with text - it's too transparent and due to this isn't legible. Using Proton goes just fine, decided to go with Experimental and it works, but it should work with any Proton version. However, if you really need a native version, remember that ADOM has its free version (without "some" features which Steam paid version includes) that works like a charm, is native and available via snap.
Text is too traqnsparent and not legible in native version, but you can safely switch to any version of Proton.
Native version has text issues - text is too transparent and due to this, it's not legible. Running the game with Proton solves all the issues, the game works perfect. ... it would be great if the dev would fix it, but it won't happen I guess. If you look strictly for a native version, go to snap and download free version of the game.
Worked perfectly both native and under proton. This is not a demanding game anyways.
Native version had issues with font colors. Proton works.
The game likes to jump to another screen when minimizing and I'll have to drag it back.
