Runs without problems. I don't have gaming hardware, but I can still play at 25-30 fps and on a laptop screen is quite playable.

Ending cutscene did not play
Have not had any issues with default setting, using a 8BitDo SN30Pro + joypad
Runs great at 1440P ultra settings
On my hardware, I was only able to get the game running using Proton-5.21-GE-1. The default Proton in Steam (5.13) did not work.

on play game freezes w/ black screen can only hear sound of waves crashing -- a nice sleep noise generator : )

After using GloriousEggroll's Proton (v5.8), the game starts perfectly. Whole game appears playable (will test further).
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF (GloriousEggroll) GloriousEggroll
Grass shadows sometimes render incorrectly, and Depth of Field settings above "Low" blur the screen entirely. The player's shadow has the wrong shape under certain conditions. VERY minor problems; not distracting.
Game used to crash upon loading the intro video (WMF-related problem) and during gameplay with existing saves. Using GloriousEggroll's Proton (v5.8), the game plays perfectly for me, save for a few minor graphical errors. You no longer need an existing save to begin a new game.

I have the game running smoothly on my modest MX150 at 720p, on Medium settings.

Proton-5.4-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
I used Proton-5.4-GE-2 (https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/5.4-GE-2) and mf-install workaround (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install).

Black screen after new game loading screen
I can't hear faint background music, but the game doesn't progress beyond that. It also doesn't respond to any input.

I was able to get past the crash on the opening movie by installing the Media Foundation DLL tool (mf-install on github), then hitting Esc just as the loading icon faded and the movie was about the start. Both steps appear to be necessary.
The game crashes once you encounter the first enemy.
Before fixes: crash on opening cut scene. After fixes: hard crash on first enemy (it locked up Gnome Shell, in addition to locking up the game).

Cant launch the game, even using dedicated AMD HD8750m gpu. Proton logs dont show useful info either.

Cant even launch the game. Tried running with dedicated graphics AMD HD8750M, tried installing Winetricks and using Proton 4.11.3...nothing works and logs from Proton have no relevant info.

Game doesn't start at all, can't even get to the menu

I installed Media Foundation workarounds (search github and the like) but they still didn't solve the intro video crashing the game. I noticed that as the loading animation started to fade, I could hit escape at around that moment and select Skip Cutscene, and this allowed me to play the game.
As others have mentioned, it works after you have a saved game to where it's not a "New Game".
I am not sure how to share with others a fresh save game, otherwise I would.
I am also not positive if the MF workaround was necessary to get to the "Skip Cutscene" menu option.
After this workaround, the game works well! Zero issues so far.
I hope this helps someone.

Runs perfectly if you have a save AFTER the intro movie (which is, to be honest, too long and pretty useless). The game only crashes if you launch a new game, so I'm guessing the movie is the culprit here.

Crashes to Desktop when starting a 'New Game'

The main menu and sub menus (Options, Credits, etc.) work perfectly, but selecting "New Game" exits to desktop after displaying the loading screen.

The game opens, runs smoothly, and lets me play until I engage enemy AI, whereupon the whole game crashes and locks up my system.

Main menu works, but starting new game crashes to desktop.

Goes into menu, than frozen black screen when loading a game
