This game uses some specific DLL files, so I recommend using ProtonGE to avoid any problems with the game graphics.
When first running, the game will usually use the lowest resolution, so we need to set it manually in the options.
performance drop on non-gaming machine
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
install protontricks (Ubuntu: apt , Arch: yay), use 'protontricks 204120 d3dx9_41'
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% 'sudo apt install protontricks' & then 'protontricks 204120 d3dx9_41'
Works out of the box, reached a 100.0% save from scratch.
Artifacting occurs with certain graphical effects, such as fire and the flash of some spells. Particularly severe in a few of the "flashback" levels and cutscenes. Does not occur on every such effect, but where it does occur it is consistently reproducible.
The game does support the Deck's native resolution, but HUD elements will be slightly stretched vertically. (I chose to play at 1280x720 to avoid this.) Additionally, the game has a tendency to lag when loading certain areas. These are both issues with the game itself and have nothing to do with Proton.

Save data is deleted when the game is uninstalled. No Steam Cloud support.
Steep performance drops (about 5 seconds long) anytime a new area is loaded for the first time, and also when certain effects are on screen.
Game would not launch (I play on my husband's stream PC). But he found a fix!
'sudo apt install protontricks' & then 'protontricks 204120 d3dx9_41'
Install protontricks + use DX9 to successfully launch & run the game.
Game won't start for some reason, using Proton 7.0-3. Tried Proton Experimental and also verified integrity of game files.
Works perfectly fine.
Finished game. No real issues
Intermittent stuttering

Game is playable apart the one mission, without it the player can't continue
black bars over screen happen under xorg
laggy in menu with wayland
Main menu is unresponsive under Wayland
Crashes in "Kreacher Discomforts" mission
Works perfectly, ran at 4K with max settings no problem.
I played this game on linux for a few hours without any problem.
Lighting is sometimes very extreme. Some smoke effects cause solid black clouds. Some lights cause glaring reflections that block visuals.
It crashed once at year 6. Some stuttering but playable and enjoyable. 100% completed with Steam Controller.
Stuttering 120->30 fps every 5-10 seconds (i found that's "Nvidia problem"), disable option "shader cache cleanup" helped a little:
export __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1
No issues.

Works out of the box on Proton. I installed D9VK and it worked as well perfectly fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Black screen, no sound, have to alt+F4 to exit

24 hours clocked, 100% completed, no issues. Steam Controller and Xbox 360 wireless controllers used.

Flawless. Played with Steam Controller, and worked just fine.

Runs perfectly fine!

I only played the first level, but it worked without issues.

4k 80ish fps same as old proton (with ps4 controller)

80fps 4k no AA. sometimes slight jumps in cutscenes. played 2 hrs

No issues whatsoever and decent performance, played for around 15 minutes.
