The blanking of the screen means you get pulled out of the action, destroys the game play immersion as well as just basic game play.
screen would blank and come back randomly
screen blanks and comes back randomly

No special tricks. Just enable Steam Play for all titles, install and play!
Since the game isn't verified, I had to enable Steam Play for unsupported titles under the compatibility menu from Steam settings. I just toggled the setting, pressed ok and started installing. I've completed tutorial and the first "real" mission, to the point of unlocking the mission select screen and so far the game has run flawlessly.

No Problems using CachyOS and proton-cachyos. Did not change anything, just started the game.

Ran like garbage on proton 9.0-4, experimental, and hotfix.

Frame rate is garbage (2 or 3FPS max)
Unplayable, tried filtering the graphics card, tried proton GE. Tried many versions of proton. All garbage level of playablity. Sometims the game runs fine until you meet an enemy mech, then the FPS becomes potato mode at 2 or 3FPS

DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=3080 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Occasional stuttering
Without DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=model the game crashes at first splash.

Perfect out of the box
No changes necessary, just install and run. Didn't even notice any shader hiccups.

Works pretty well, despite the fact the game itself runs like ass, it isn't because of Linux!
When hit with UAC's mechs were flinching a lot more than usual, not sure if Linux related.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Cutscenes cut in and out
Crashed after cutscenes

Occasionaly lags during dropship boss engagements, restarting mission resoves.
No issues experienced that haven't been encountered by friends on Windows

Runs well overall.
After the first mission the non-mission environment like mechlab, etc. are very laggy and low fps. Don't know if this is specific to linux or a universal game bug. The missions themself run well.
After hours of tinkering, gave up and refunded.
I was really hoping this game would work as well as PGI's other Mechwarrior titles on Linux. I tried vanilla Proton 8, 9, and Experimental. Tried Proton GE 7, 8, and 9. Tried various launch options. The most I could get is the "Press Any Key" screen, but (as reported by other users as well) the game would not register any keypresses, mouse clicks, or controller inputs. Ultimately had to refund. Will try again after a few months or whenever Russ announces they've made some Linux compatibility updates.

DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=2070 %command%
Very memory heavy, without closing out other programs will hit an OOM point.
Without the command line fails with a fatal error at startup. Replace 2070 with a string that identifies your graphics card to replicate.

DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=2070 %command%
Crashed partway through intro mission, possibly an OOM situation.
Modified command line seems to fix the "fatal error" on startup issue I was getting. still crashes but that might be a memory issue that can be resolved.

No Problems Here
Keybinds. Haven't tested on Windows, so I can't be completely sure if it is only a Linux issue, but any time I close the game, upon next launch, all my keybinds have been reset. Not a huge issue, but definitely an annoying one.
Otherwise, haven't had any issues whatsoever.
Regular freezes on wayland, I could still move around but the image would be stuck. Solved by switching to X11.

HOTASMappings.remap overrides
Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick gets stuck with mech nose down and turing to the right, even with a remap file. Can force into position breifly, but on any additional input rapid drift occurrs.
Slow or skipped text during in-combat scrolls. In-combat cutscense sometimes skip. ( Might be a game bug )
Most of the issues I encountered outside of HOTAS support are bugs the developer is already issuing hotfixes for.

Gives "Fatal Error" and fails to launch on most Protons. 7.x worked once but did not accept key press to play. 6.x immediately freezes.
Worked once with Proton 7, now says it won't launch because I lack dx12 support, which is untrue as other dx12 games work. Turning on the -dx11 command line variable gives a message that the software is not configured to run on dx11. With Proton 6, game launches but then immediately freezes upon key press. Cannot get past launch screen (and sometimes intro screens like PGI/Unreal) will freeze. I am unfamiliar with protontricks and was overwhelmed by winetricks, so possible solutions may lay there.

All graphic in low setting.
Too slow, almost unable to play with high setting.
Can't run smoothly on deck

IP fans will enjoy this game. MechWarrior fans will like this game, but not as much. Big Mech Go Dakka fans will want to wait for a sale.
Audio issues are with the game itself, not Linux.
Very minor issues, same with Windows.
Seems like I'm encountering the same performance issues Windows users have. Still reporting it here just in case.
I made no tweaks whatsoever and the game worked as I expect on my former Windows rig right out of the box.

Game works about the same as MW5 Mercenaries did in terms of stability and frame rate expectations
gamemoderun %command%
After launch day patch game seems to be running just fine, there are hiccups here and there due to being unoptimized, but MW5 also had this issue in the beginning even on windows

Played through the opening tutorial missions up to the first proper mission. Minor graphical issues (some pop-in, possible shader effect issue with one of the weapons on point of contact), but nothing that made it unplayable. I suspect that those issues are not specific to running under Proton, either, as some of these issues have been reported by Windows players. I'll update as I get more time in the game, but at this early stage I'd say it's as good to go as it would be on any other OS.

I think with the settings, hardware and optimisations I have set now I wouldn't recommend this game on Linux.
One time some textures were rendered with bizzare colours until it triggered a crash.
Fullscreen and resolution size changes ofren triggered crashes. I played in a window.
It's difficult to tell because the game also has poor performance on Windows right now.
Infrequent crashes. Can play through some single player missions.

The game will not respond to keystrokes at the “press any button to continue” screen before the main menu, however the game is not frozen.
Tried a few different versions of Proton after the download (6 hours) completed and installed, 7.0-6 was the only one I have had any success with so far tonight, after the Piranha Games title and warning screens cycled I arrived at the "press any key to continue" screen before the main menu. While the cursor moves around and the background animations and audio play the game will not respond to keystrokes or mouse clicks. I was able to exit via Alt-Tab and then clicking the stop button in Steam.

Lowered all graphics settings and set FSR to Ultra Performance
FPS in the low 20s with constant stuttering

No tinkering necessesary just to play. Installed, switched to experimental, launched and played for some hours. Some slowdowns in areas with a lot of foliage otherwise runs perfectly.

MANGOHUD=1 %command%
The framerate is a little low in combat sections with the default graphics settings, at least in the first few tutorial fights. Probably going to want to turn some of the settings down as many of them defaulted to maximum on my system.

Ultra performance makes the game very blocky and unrecognizable
At ultra performance settings getting about 10 fps
Some odd control inversion. Can't tell if it's performance related.
No problems. Consistently above 30fps with default settings at 1920x800 windowed. You might want to lower settings from default.

Game runs out of the box, Bargained Well and Done!
