ChaudLoader always runs on startup and requires mouse + left click to navigate.
By default, intro screen is not animated. This seems to be a Steam Deck optimization, so setting the launch option fixes it. The Deck can handle it.
Game detects the Steam Deck and refuses to play in resolutions other than 1280x720. Launch option fixes this. The Deck can handle it.
Steam Deck optimizations take some of the wind out of this game's sails, as the main menu looks much cheaper with the static intro and the lack of resolution options makes proper scaling on displays other than the stock Deck's more difficult. Luckily, the Steam Deck optimizations can be easily disabled and the game still runs perfectly.

Performance issues / weird optimisation issues. Many game-related processes use a lot of CPU, causing slowdown.
Tried to launch with Proton 8.0 before but never launched (hanged with "Launching", nothing ever appearing) - successfully launched with 9.0
Major slowdowns, can see many processes related to the game using too much CPU. Slight stutters, experiencing varying slowdowns instead down to 30 fps (50% game speed).

My library is shared with Windows so my drive format is exFAT. I needed to follow the exFAT compatdata workaround to bind the shared compatdata exFAT location to the ext4 compatdata location on my linux steam directory.

Work flawlessly on protonGE

it just works, online connects fine too

Runs great out of the box, but installing mods recommended! So far, chaudloader works fine as compared to the last report.
- Install chaudloader: https://github.com/RockmanEXEZone/chaudloader
- Follow the installation instructions
- Finally, install the following mods in
mods
from chaudloader's installation instructions:

Crashed with Proton Experimental, but works with Proton GE

Installed these mods manually without using chaudloader: https://github.com/Prof9/MMBNLC-Pixel-Font-Mod https://www.nexusmods.com/megamanbattlenetwork/mods/3 https://www.nexusmods.com/megamanbattlenetwork/mods/2
TDP Limit 3
If you use chaudloader then a GUI window pops up every time and you have to use the mouse to get out of it. This is specifically why I chose to manually install the mods.
Main Menu Background doesn't animate. This is super minor and doesn't affect the gameplay. Also changing the resolution appears to have issues, but the game runs at 1280x800 fine in 16:9.
Not sure if Chaud Loader works on Proton 8. They recommend Proton 7 in the guide, so if it doesn't work then try that.
Works out of the box
Works out of the box, if running on the deck, run at 60 fps to prevent game from slowing down. Like many games of this type the speed of the game rendering is tied to the framerate.
Works out of the box
Had to use Proton GE. Did not launch with Proton Experimental. This does not seem to affect Steam Deck Users.
Game took a moment to launch after install. It opens immediately now after launching now.
You probably don't have to change proton. I just read a report to do so.
Passed the first battle network game with no issues on GE proton
3W TDP

Couldn't test online since nobody was on, but it works in Vol. 2, so I'd assume it works here. Setting the scaling filter to Linear is recommended to smooth the game out.
Fedora Linux with PS5 controller. Had to set up GE-Proton7-55 and use Steam Controller settings.
Don't use Steam Deck frame limiting!

Played about 4 hours of BN3 without any problems after setting it to run under GE-Proton7-55. Online works without any issues.
Controller needs to be turned on/connected before launching the game; game controls don't seem to remap to controller if it's connected after the game is already running.
Once I got Proton GE, it worked immediately. Normal versions of proton didn't work for me.
The game appears to be running at ~75% speed

Aspect ratio seems locked at 16:9. So there are vertical black bars, and side bars.
Even though it's a shame the aspect ratio seems locked at 16:9, causing bars on all sides, the collection runs perfectly. No tinkering needed.
The only thing I tweaked was adding a button in the steam controller profile that turbo fires.
The game detects the controller as xbox controller, and shows proper button icons everywhere. I quickly tested everything offline I could think of and I had no issues. I didn't test online.
The background of the title screen and main menu are supposed to animate, but don't under Proton. I tried with a few different Proton versions, including GE, but none fixed it. I didn't try with too many though, since this game uses Denuvo Anti-tamper. Actual gameplay is fine.
