Sometimes during cutscenes characters will disappear

Have you tried playing with Steam and Proton without any tinkering -> Own Origin version not steam reselled one, can;t do that

Alt-Tab crashes the game.

Crashes
Runs great out of the box and with some control tweaking to your taste it's not a bad way to play the game.
Runs just as good as on windows if not better i have not played it in years on windows so cant fully remeber but it run just as good.
i had a problem on steam where it got stuck trying to install vcredist no matter what i did it will not get past that not even deleting the prefix would help so i ended up installing the game in Steam-wine version and it run flowless on that.

Excellent! Love this game already and it's just as good on Linux.
Save game pictures don't load, instead the picture is this strange colorful glitchy looking artifact.
Photo issue mentioned above
Crashed a few times, nothing unplayable
Runs out of the box, but crashes on Alt+Tab (not a problem for me)
After fixing the alt-tab crash problem, I completed a full playthrough without significant issues.
Use winecfg to launch the game in a virtual desktop (see below).
The game crashes whenever you alt-tab. Launch the game in a wine virtual desktop to avoid this problem. Do this in a terminal (note that your path will probably be different if you're not using a debian-based distro):
WINEPREFIX=/home/$USER/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/17450/pfx winecfg
A configuration window will open. Go to the "graphics" tab and enable the "emulate virtual desktop" option. A blue "desktop" will appear the next time you launch the game. It shouldn't crash when alt-tabbing anymore.
However, now alt-tabbing causes a different problem: keyboard controls don't work. If this happens to you, disable and enable fullscreen, and it will work again. You can do this quickly by pressing alt+enter twice. Or just try to avoid alt-tabbing. Use workspaces instead if you need to check another window while playing.
The game crashed a couple of times in a 50 hours playthrough. It's perfectly playable, but save frequently, just in case. Use F5 for quick save.
The game itself is a bit prone to crash. Try using a program like 4GB patch to modify the .exe to allow it to use more memory. This can fix crashes in Windows where entering a large city (like Denerim) causes the game to stop.

Crashes when alt-tab from menu
Proton version used : 5.0-10

Run only with proton 5.0-10.

It's exactly the same as when I played the game on Windows, it only launches slower from the Steam library on Linux
I remember that the sceenshots for savegame selecion when loading when is not correctly represented (image not visible, collored dots instead of screenshot)

With steam overlay off and old proton, it seemed to function ok, but I did not test long enough to really tell.
Had to disable Steam Overlay for right mouse click to work in game
Did not work with latest proton, did work with proton 4.2-9
Tabbing out ends in a game crash.
Works out of the box without any problem.
I tried to play this game 3 times previously through wine without ever finishing it because of glitches. Proton was flawless and I love it.

The game runs perfectly. The single issue I've found is that the DLC content does not work.
It's not possible to use the DLC content. Even if you install the DLC content and have it into your EA account, this does not appear on installed content.
Deactivate steam overlay for Steam Controller usage (basic usage only)
On big explosion or discussion

It works perfectly with a couple of caveats:
- If the game loses focus (e.g. alt-tabbing), it can stop responding to mouse clicks and there is seemingly no way to fix this apart from restarting.
- When I tried with d9vk, sound stopped working - the game was completely silent.

The game is working great!

The game runs well with no issues on older versions of proton, 3.7-8 works flawlessly for me. Newer versions cause some issues with mouse input and camera movement. The games doesn't start directly, but starting through the launcher works fine. Disable sound was checked in the launcher settings, but after enabling it everything worked perfectly.

Plays fine; 16xMSAA caused texture corruption and instability

Just works

Just play

Game crashes on savegame load if sound has been manually enabled. Appears on all Proton versions. Works like native otherwise.

Several issues on latest proton 4.2 (heavy stutters and buggy camera movement). After switching to 3.16 (3.7 works too) issues were gone and the game ran well with max details, AA and even vsync.

Getting minor mouse tweaking after some time during game session. Other than that, the game runs perfectly.

Rodou perfeitamente, como se fosse nativo. Sem nenhum problema á relatar

I can't work out how to edit previous reports, so I am just making a new one. I was the person downthread who was having trouble with the mouse camera movement. I have just tested it now with the new version of Proton and there are no problems; it runs flawlessly. :)

just perfect

Everythings runs fine with no problems -- except mouse camera movement. For very short turns it's fine, but anything more than about 30 degrees and it starts to spin, even with sensitivity all the way down to 0.25. I also can't change movement direction without taking my finger off the mouse button and pressing it again.
It's frustrating because it's such a small issue but it really affects gameplay and my enjoyment of the game a lot.

Everything seems works out of the box on, but if the game starts to use more than 2GB of ram it crashes. There is a fix for this posted at WineHQ titled "Solving GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY errors": https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18283
It links to this page, where you have to patch the DAORIGINS.exe in "/home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Dragon Age Origins/bin_ship": https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/
After this fix, the game runs flawlessly. Been playing for more than 10 hours on max settings.
