Comfortably locks to 30fps @ 720 borderless with the "standard" graphics preset, but set shadows and reflections to low.
Limit to 30fps.
Messages have very small font, use Steam Deck's in-built magnifier to see better (set it to one of the back buttons for easy access).
Plays at the same resolution and framerate as Switch, but looks visually superior and you get to own on Steam and use a more powerful PC when not on-the-go.
Locking to 30fps is necessary for the first dungeon, with 40fps achievable other dungeons. However, for the sake of battery life and consistency, just leave it at 30fps.

Applied the atelier-sync-fix
30 FPS cap
Without the sync fix the game is basically unplayable, at sub-30fps. With the sync fix it will thrash your battery to still only barely stay above 30fps in many areas.
If you don't want to tinker with the atelier-sync-fix then stay away. If you do I still can't say I'd recommend this if you have any other platform you could play on. At the end of the day, even with the sync fix, the experience you'll get on the Deck cannot consistenly get better FPS than playing on Switch and will also thrash your battery life. If you have a Switch I'd buy there, and if you care about FPS I'd buy on a home console.
If you have no other option and are interested in this game then it is atleast a playable experience with the sync fix.

Weird behavior, ALT+TAB breaks full screen needing change to window mode to full screen again
I used some mods (called save plus) and atelier-sync-fix (improves a lot the game).
Playable and good experience on Steam Deck with atelier-sync-fix applied, however performance still varies based on game area
Horizontal Black Bars, Default or Borderless setting resolves the issue
Performance hit depending on area within game
With the d3d11.dll file added (via Desktop mode) game is a much better experience on Steam Deck. I had previously tested about a month ago with base settings and had a poor experience with frame drops and lower than expected FPS.
However, even with the fix certain locations within the game still have some issues so you'll find those running at 30-35FPS while other dungeons run at 60FPS. Within dungeons, depending on the section you're in you may also see differences. Most notably and noticeably those areas affected are the school + the first dungeon (beginning of the game).
Despite that, this fix provides a more stable experience with a solid low to mid 30 FPS as a baseline. With Manual GPU Clock set to max in those areas, you'll see additional performance + stability improvements, especially in battles.
Settings were at standard preset, 1280x720 with shadows and reflections set to low. I'd encourage making additional adjustments to find what works for you. Some settings won't have a major impact on performance.
Credit to users on the various Atelier ProtonDB pages for recommending the Github fix + the author of the original fix for coming up with this workaround. Atelier and Blue Reflection share the same developer, so this fix may also work for KT titles outside Atelier but ymmv.
videos are working, performance is on par or maybe better than windows using dxvk on my hardware, shader cache work wonders. Perfect.
i've tried a few months ago and got stutters everywhere. Now, its amazing.

Hard crash after fixing roof leak, I tried GE7-17, experimental and 7.0-2, and all crashed. Switched to Proton 6.3-8 and the same sequence ended up in a white window where I couldn't see anything. I managed to save the game by remembering the key sequences. I quit and reloaded the save and it was back to normal and I could play again.
Only played a few hours so far with 1 major hiccup. Not a great out of the box experience, but with a little tinkering was about to get past and continue.

Fullscreen setting generates Horizontal Black Bars, can be resolved by changing setting to Default or Borderless in game menu.
Stuttering and sluggish performance even at lowest settings
Have also launched with GE-Proton7-17, no noticeable differences
- Resolution: 1280x720
- Settings: Lowest Preset
- 29-34 FPS in School/Dungeon environments with some occasional stuttering
- 24-30 FPS in Battles
Limited graphic options, adjusted settings ingame but above is the baseline at the lowest preset. Have also tried upscaling at lower resolutions, but not recommended.
Will revisit/attempt to tweak further in the future. Have previously completed the game on Desktop Windows for ref.
Fully completed the game. Occasional stutters fixed by restarting game. Save often and use windowed mode and it's a good experience.
Running in windowed mode is better.
The game occasionally starts lagging. Restarting the game fixes it.
Save often.
Mirrors looks a bit bugged but It's nothing catastrophic
If you use Alt+Tab, It doesn't back to full screen, you need set manually to Window Mode and then set again full screen.
Maybe I would have more FPS in windows but I didn't tested and having between 59 & 70fps at ultra and with a freesync display (45-144hz) is more than enough.
P.S: I'm using gamemode
doesnt run here, tested lots of proton versions, crashes when launching. Maybe its a nvidia problem, since amd users told that the game run.
Runs very well out of box, only a couple minor issues.
Game does not properly launch in Fullscreen or Borderless Fullscreen. Have to go to graphics settings and fix it each session.
Alt-tabbing out of the game then returning caused some controller glitches. Keyboard prompts shown except when pressing a button, and the right analog stick stopped functioning.
Completed game.
