Fullscreen setting generates Horizontal Black Bars, can be resolved by changing setting to Default or Borderless in game menu.
Stuttering and sluggish performance even at lowest settings
Have also launched with GE-Proton7-17, no noticeable differences
- Resolution: 1280x720
- Settings: Lowest Preset
- 29-34 FPS in School/Dungeon environments with some occasional stuttering
- 24-30 FPS in Battles
Limited graphic options, adjusted settings ingame but above is the baseline at the lowest preset. Have also tried upscaling at lower resolutions, but not recommended.
Will revisit/attempt to tweak further in the future. Have previously completed the game on Desktop Windows for ref.
Playable and good experience on Steam Deck with atelier-sync-fix applied, however performance still varies based on game area
Horizontal Black Bars, Default or Borderless setting resolves the issue
Performance hit depending on area within game
With the d3d11.dll file added (via Desktop mode) game is a much better experience on Steam Deck. I had previously tested about a month ago with base settings and had a poor experience with frame drops and lower than expected FPS.
However, even with the fix certain locations within the game still have some issues so you'll find those running at 30-35FPS while other dungeons run at 60FPS. Within dungeons, depending on the section you're in you may also see differences. Most notably and noticeably those areas affected are the school + the first dungeon (beginning of the game).
Despite that, this fix provides a more stable experience with a solid low to mid 30 FPS as a baseline. With Manual GPU Clock set to max in those areas, you'll see additional performance + stability improvements, especially in battles.
Settings were at standard preset, 1280x720 with shadows and reflections set to low. I'd encourage making additional adjustments to find what works for you. Some settings won't have a major impact on performance.
Credit to users on the various Atelier ProtonDB pages for recommending the Github fix + the author of the original fix for coming up with this workaround. Atelier and Blue Reflection share the same developer, so this fix may also work for KT titles outside Atelier but ymmv.
