Game runs pretty well, holds 60fps without a hitch on max settings for usually 3 hours of battery life. EA Launcher needs to be configured using the touchscreen and keyboard, but once this is done you don't seem to have to do it for future EA games you play on Steam Deck. The only bugs you'll experience are ones that stem from the original remaster release, so they aren't due to the platform.

They finally fixed it all the way.

Used borderless window

had to switch to desktop mode for the first launch because the EA app had some issue (not specifically linked with this game though)

Game uses the EA launcher. I initially couldn't log in, since my EA account needed a password reset, but after that it worked fine.

Just use GE-Proton and call it a day. There is no need to force Proton Experimental to be set up and then constantly update it.
Decreased TDP to 10

I had to delete controls.ini like atmur to get the buttons to work.
The game runs fine but looks awful and clearly isn't meant to be played at such a low resolution.

OOB experience with zero issues. Game plays great with default settings.

lowered tdp to 10 as usual
game was installed via steam, didnt apply any proton and works out the box. 60fps no problem. was a bit slow loading into the game but once in it was all good.
tpd set to 10 max, fps set to 60 max

Not only is the long-lingering crash finally fixed with the latest Experimental, but the performance is tremendously improved too.
Nothing more to say. Valve have did an awesome job.

Latest proton experimental fixes crash from the EA overlay

go to desktop mode, go to the file explorer, this path: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238080/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/
and in here just search for the IGO64.dll file, and just change the name. by doing so you will no longer be able to open the Origin overlay (you will still get notifications) but the game won't crush anymore.
people also wrote to add -skipvideo argument to steam but that's not needed anymore
EA app needs to be disabled

%command% -skipvideos
Instead of altering .dll file it's better to update configuration file and disable ea overlay as stated here https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/19f296c/how_to_disable_the_ea_desktop_overlay/
TLDR:
Go to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/<game_id>/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/user_###########.ini
And append at the end of the file user.igoenabled=0

Changed igo64.dll file and renamed to igo64_old.dll
Make the edit to the launching options within propeties of the game "-skipvideos". Under compatibility, force the game to use proton experimental. Then go to desktop, open dolphin and make your way to .steam and search for igo64. I found mine here ~.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238080/pfx/drive_c/Program Files/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/EA Desktop
Renaming that file will disable EA overlay but you will still receive notifications. After doing this I was able to launch and play the game

-skipvideos
Skipping videos allows you to get to the main menu. However, game crashes when trying to start. Tried default Proton and experimental

-skipvideos
Find "IGO64.dll" in the game's EA folder and rename it to anything else. Easily done in Dolphin if you search for it from ~/.local
This forcefully disables the EA App in-game overlay (but you'll still get EA notifications).
The game then runs flawess for me maxed out.

UPDATE: Latest Experimental has much better odds against crashing on launch. 1 every 2 launches.
Ran some tests with the latest Experimental. Now there's only a 50% chance it crashes now.
Running it on Steam Beta. Might be thanks to the built-in ZRAM function.

The game goes trough EA launcher properly, and then loading scren appears. After few seconds the game crashes. I read other reports that game randomly does that, but even though I tried 50+ times, on different protons suggested in other reports the game never once gone to the main menu (at least 5 tries on each proton I tried).
I got banned from using the game for 2 days for using too many proton versions. Then I continued testing solutions.
Also note that the game seems to sync settings between computers, so if you set the game to 4k on PC it will try to launch at that resolution on SD(which I suspected might have been a reason for crashes, but it wasn't).
I tried on desktop, in big picture mode, in game mode. I also tried using a save past initial cinematics.

The game crashes a few times on the start-up loading screen when launching. When it finally does launch, it works as it should.
Tried on GE too, same persistent issue.
EA Lauchers required keyboard input

I managed have a couple of long play sessions with no problems, but it's a hit or miss wheter it will crash at the menu

Make Sure to be in Big Screen Mode, While in Desktop Mode Managed to Run Good.
Will Crash Unless you are in Desktop Mode and Running Steam Big Picture Mode
Just Make sure to Enter Desktop Mode, Launch Steam, Enter Big Picture Mode in Top Right Corner While in the Steam App, Change Proton to Experimental in the Settings Icon on the Right Side of the Play Button.

Works really good if you manage to go through EA App. Sadly there is no way to skip it.

When lauching for the first time and needing to create an account are easiest via the desktop, I guess the typical gamer would.
Switched to desktop mode to create an account for EA & allow their launcher to finish installing itself.
Joined friend's lobby & drove around with them.
Putting aside the initial navagation to the desktop to finish installation, once it's running it's an enjoyable and hassle free experience on a handheld device all within Big Picture Mode.

So long as they get past the initial secondary launcher on Deck, game runs as if though it's on Windows.
Needed to press the 'steam' button and navagate to the 'resume game' option to get to the secondary launcher window to press "let's go" to allow it to finish its operations.
WARNING: I didn't play long with others beyond being able to join a random lobby.
Played multiplayer with a friend in the same LAN, no issues.

When the game starts, a EA account is required. Without logging into it the game won't start in ether mode.
Just made this post to tell this game runs like a charm on SD as of October 29,2023.
When the game loads up you'll be greetied with a EA login page, where you'll have to enter your EA credentials. Somehow my keyboard of SteamDeck wasn't working on it. As in I tried everything, didn't work.
A workaround to that is told by reddit user "iamtimmah : Go to EAs help page. https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/ Click login, and choose the Steam option. Link your steam with your ea account. Then try launching your game again. You’ll get the gray screen but give it time and it will go away. "
I did that, it worked and my game runs easy peasy. No issues whatsoever.

Steam Deck microphone doesn't seem to work for VOIP, even after changing audio input settings in-game.
I'm using the EA App version as a non-Steam game since I don't own the game on Steam, but the game works almost flawlessly after the Proton Experimental update on 20/10/23.
Videos are now working correctly, so the -skipvideos
launch argument is no longer needed to get in-game. I haven't tried without an existing save, so I'm unsure if the intro is fixed and can be started on a new save.
The freezing issue with the online mode is also fixed, although I've not found many players online at the time of writing. However, microphone input on the Steam Deck doesn't seem to be working in-game for the VOIP.
In order for gamepad controls to work, I had to delete \AppData\Local\Criterion Games\Burnout Paradise Remastered\Save\controls.ini in the game's compatadata folder.

Works on Proton Experimental, though the intro cutscene had no audio.

Switch to GE-Proton8-20, no launch option required anymore.

Launch the game with Proton GE with the -skipvideos launch option, which will allow the game to launch up until the intro video after an EA sign-in. After the intro video (which will be all-black) is finished, the game will stop working and thus you will need to exit.
At this point, you will need to push your save file past the video, which can be accomplished by:
- EITHER Downloading a save file from GitHub (like this one: https://gist.github.com/Decclo/da097b504ccbc61514926ae2d96350ef) and replacing it in the /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238080/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Criterion Games/Burnout Paradise Remastered/Save directory.
- OR Installing and opening the game on a Windows PC and playing past the cutscene.
Either way, the game should work fine once it is pushed the first cutscene.
Install EA App and run it using proton experimental, login using desktop mode Install game using ea app interface After installing game click on it in the launcher then manage and then click on proprieties. Under advanced launch options type -skipvideos

Switch to Proton GE. I'm using 8-4. Start the game, log in to your EA account. After the game loads up you'll hear the intro video but won't be able to see it. After that plays the game will lock up. Force close the game and then enter desktop mode. Download the save file at https://gist.github.com/Decclo/da097b504ccbc61514926ae2d96350ef and use it to replace the current save file located at /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238080/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Criterion Games/Burnout Paradise Remastered/Save
Now simply go back to game mode and load up Burnout. The new save file takes place after the intro video and starts at the junkyard vehicle select screen and you can play the game perfectly fine now!

7W TDP @ 40 FPS

Occasional loss of control when exiting Steam overlay. Another open cycle would resolve.
