You have to lower graphics settings to be able to play

set tdp limit to 5w and 30 fps
Correction to last report. Proton Experimental or anything newer than 7 don't seem to work at all - Steam thinks it's running but I don't even get a display. Version 7 of Proton works pretty well.
Very occasional freeze ups followed by a crash, usually not a big deal considering the game autosaves so often. No performance issues at all even at max graphics.
When running in default mode, the game has serious screen flicker. I had to run it in forced compatability mode. After that, the experience is smooth. Does require some additional controller configuration to be fully playable. Some hot keys needed to be assigned.
Mapping Alt-E for ending turn
My cloud saves are failing to upload.
Serious screen flicker is resolved by running in the forced 7.0.1 compatibility mode.
Runs as on Windows
The game runs notoriously badly regardless of graphics settings on windows, no different here
I had an initial issue with running the game (would open the launcher but be unable to open further) while I was still running off an ntfx formatted hardrive, but once I installed it onto an ext4 formatted ssd this issue disappeared
With current hardware.
Just slow based on my hardware - this is my test PC, looking to go full Linux on my main PC once I tested out a few more games.
