I tried using the cachy bleeding edge proton version and it had the "everything dark" problem with the SSAO. But using steam proton 9.0-4 or GE 9 (I tried from 25 to 27) works great

Game would not start, not even a splash screen or anything else.

Attempted disabling Esync, D3d11, and Use WineD3d11, no joy. Executing "wine ISLANDERS.exe" caused the game to open, run the splash screen then crash.
