Changed to 30FPS to improve battery
If you are experiencing slowdown in the larger area:
- Reduce FPS to 30
- Change texutre quality to Quarter
The game works right out of the box! But as you progress through the game, it becomes more demanding for the steam deck hardware.
Setting the resolution below 720p and capping the FPS to 30 increases the battery life by an hour at best.
Low-resolution textures render the text quite difficult to read.
As you advance through the game and aquire more paleofolks, the open-ended zone becomes way too taxxing on the steam deck hardware, often dipping to 18-23 fps. Even with all of the graphical and resolution settings set to low (textures set to quatar for readability) it doesn't make any significent improvements.
The shop gameplay, which requires quick responsiveness, performs adequately at around 35-40 fps. Fortunately, no other aspect of the game demands such high responsiveness.
However, if you desire a consistently smooth experience, it's advisable to wait for a few patches to resolve performance issues or for the developers to introduce low-polygon model options.
Switched Y button to 5 for Binoculars

If both users are using GE7-41 on Linux you will have a solid connection, Although if you are in a match with a Windows user, the anti-cheat will remove you from the match saying you are "an untrusted peer"
Tested with Steam Deck, Arch Linux & Windows 10 to confirm the issues.
Steam Deck and Arch Linux (AMD Ryzen 5600x, RX 6650 XT) connected but connection would be lost or characters would sit idle after 10 seconds into a match when playing with a Windows user.
Works out of the box, only needed to change controller layout to WASD for it to function.
Game would crash if you changed to fullscreen or vice versa

Runs out of the box, but text is hard to read and finicky to navagate due to small menus.
Menu UI is hard to read and some text in game.
Areas with a lot of players shooting with shading graphics dips framerate on 1280x800, better performance by lowering the resolution to 960x600

Ubisoft Connect required to play (offline and online)
Audio queues didn't play, this was very rare though.
You can't play online because of Denuvo anti-cheat (and possible Ubisoft Connect), you will get kicked out and given an error code.
I tried to play with friends on the Steam Deck but always got the error code. The moment I played it on Windows I joined their game no problem.
