When ever a menu screen opened like when you bought/got a plasma, power or ability, also if you receive Adam or wanna hack, the game gets stuck for a several seconds from 5 up to 90secs (mostly 15-20secs) but if you wait, it will just continue. Kinda is not perfect but definitely acceptable for me.
Really smooth gameplay - no problems with maxed out graphics.
Nope.. still broken.
Launcher works.
Pressing 'Start' -> short loading screen with Anti-Cheat .. aand gone.
I hope some one can make it work one day.

There is a very short pause (few usec) every 2-8 seconds, with motion blur enabled, you might not even notice it. Does not really disturb gameplay.
Works fine for me, including game launcher, with experimental Proton with the launch options above, you will have to update the paths to your environment. You may use the line below in the launch options to get the default start command.

The game starts also with Proton 8.0 and other versions, but login via Steam always failed when I tried.
The previous solution with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 breaks textures and performance goes to 1 FPS.
Runs out of the box
Out of the box, in fullscreen with 1024x768x32bit works perfectly, 120 fps no problem. Due to upscaling in fullscreen, fonts and graphic is fine as well.
Only issue I had is when tabbing out of the game it freezes the whole desktop.
Switching to a tty and killing it (e.g. pkill DungeonSiege.ex) gives back control.
