Works perfectly out of the box with Proton 9.0, no configuration/tinkering. Didn't have any problems at all.
Somewhat buggy but still overall enjoyable. Save frequently in case of freezes, crashes, etc.
Sometimes cannot re-enter fullscreen when you switch to another window then switch back; often the window is stuck small
Semi-frequent freezes. Not so frequent it's unplayable but frequent relative to how often you want a game to freeze. No fix, you have to htop and sigterm steam and then restart everything.

(Spoilers) In one of the boss battles (the one at the amusement park), when the reanimated androids attack you, their attack that does a ring of fire around them causes frames to drop MASSIVELY to about 3 FPS for the whole time that the ring of fire is there. No idea why. Game is actually "playable" (as in, I managed to still defeat the boss just fine) like this, and the frames are completely fine when there are no fire rings. Other than this specific issue, I had no performance problems at all.
After installing the launcher and making a Rockstar Games account, stuck in loop
I installed the game fine. Launched it ok. Went through the installer to install the launcher. The drop-down menus bugged out the UI when I clicked on them, but I was able to select options with the arrow keys once a menu was selected. I was able to install the launcher and create a Rockstar Games account.
Then it gets stuck in a loading loop of 3 different windows and never progresses to the actual launcher. I have tried the default Proton version (which I believe is Experimental), Proton 9.0-4, and Proton 8.0-5. I've also tried Cryo's suggestion: https://www.protondb.com/app/1174180#rf9yqNadbQ
None of the suggested fixes got it working for me. I'm quite sad to not be able to play this game especially since I paid for it based on its gold ProtonDB rating. On Artix Linux and Wayland.
