protontricks 244210 -q dotnet472
Controller remapping does not work through the UI, requires editing config files.
VERY IMPORTANT IF DOTNET WON'T INSTALL, as mentioned by user Doogie (M.D.) on Proton's GE discord server:
regular proton uses system links that winetricks does not know how to deal with so it fails since proton 5.13 almost all the libs in valves proton game prefix is a system link back to .steam/steam/steamapps/Proton version. This was done to save space as the prefixes no longer contain the libs in each prefix, this makes the prefixes considerably smaller but it also breaks things like winetricks.
Meaning that you need to uninstall all installed proton versions (and manually delete ~/.steam/root/steamapps/common/proton-whatever) and leave only 5.0-10 for asseto corsa, launch it and wait to fail, install dotnet with:
protontricks --no-background-wineserver 244210 -q dotnet472
otherwise it will fail to install, just need to to wait a very long time.
Native runs considerably better than proton, lacks nvidia gameworks stuff.
%command% -nologos
+36 hours 99% of that using proton on low setting to achieve mostly 50~60FPS (low 40s dips) on my meager hardware. tried native today and it runs well above 60, very fluid with v-sync.
Needs steam input to have rumble effects, which are rather buggy on my Dualsense controller.
Works right out of the box.
Awesome experience, for Dualsense users:
- Disable steam input.
- No haptic feedback, it does feature very nice rumble effects however ( may be fixed in the future, follow github proton issue #5900)
- No radio enginner on dualsense speaker, may even be an issue on windows...
btw to be honest i did use proton-ge out of routine but proton-ge doesn't have custom patches that would interfere for f1 2021, i'm just lazy to re-test using vanilla proton.
NO RAIN CRASHES, at least on my meager but very playable hardware :)
pick up and play, HDR works fine with gamescope, not much to say besides that so far online mode won't work because pssdk is not running.
no dualsense haptic feedback
no online support yet
HDR causes freeze on load, it can rarely load into game with HDR however. Also the main menu video is not working, even with proton-ge.
Provided Texture Quality is set to 'Low' (requires restarting the game), yes it plays just fine.
Launch game, go to options and set 'Texture Quality' to 'Low', apply and (very important) restart the game. Game should run just like it does on windows. setting Texture Quality to anything other than low (requires restarting the game) will tank performance.
Set Texture Quality to Low and restart the game, should fix performance issue.
Requires mininal configuration, runs just like it does on windows.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Use 'Resident Evil HD Remaster fps fix' (pcgamingwiki) FPS BOOST.
Door skipping (pcgamingwiki) needs DLL override, run "protontricks 304240 winecfg", add dinput8 on the libraries tab.
reporting as non-tinkering because any modern proton version will work
Great performance, at least expected from my hardware, no issues whatsoever
Plays beatifully by default, no tinkering, runs even better with some tinker
game always says save game corrupted, just ignore, manual saves crashes.
Never crashed once, only crashes when messing with save games, 8 hours on record ATM.
Runs perfectly fine by default but you can reduce most shader cache stutter by using Proton GE with:
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
