Crashed on first lunch, relaunched the game, and it worked.

Game doesn't start in full screen. Open the game in window mode and (alt + Enter) to put it in full screen.
To play Trackmania(TM) 2020, I needed first to install UbisoftConnect(UC) onto the computer. To do so I installed it as a non-steam game, once installed I needed to change the path of UC to the executable path (.exe) created with proton. But even with UbisoftConnect, TM wouldn't lunch because it couldn't connect to the API of UC. I also wanted to play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood(ACB) which need to connect to the API of UPlay. For some unknown reason, ACB did some black magic and created a path for TM to connect to UC API. (Don't know if this actually works for other people but worked twice on my pcs)
