Fairly stable on 7.0-3. Crashes every once in a while, but workable as long as you save every turn.
Cutscenes are upside down
Currently, initiating a campain with Steam's recommended protondb version causes a crash. Switching to an older version, 7.0-3 in this case, seemed to work just fine.
Game works perfectly besides a few small hiccups. As long as the correct eggroll Proton version is used.
Only slight annoyances were found bug wise:
- It wouldn't quite remember/figure out my monitor resolution. Had to set it manually everytime the game was started.
- Lowish endgame fps started to become noticeable. Not enough to become anywhere close to unplayable
- Videos not playing and other performance related bugs only occur when using the current recommended steam Proton Experimental version. All that cleared up upon using the eggroll proton version GE-Proton7-42. Easiest way to acquire that version is to download the proton-qt client from https://davidotek.github.io/protonup-qt/. Further instructions are on the site. (Plenty of walkthroughs can be found elsewhere as well)
Still an early access game, so hard to tell if the small (almost nit-picky) UI issues encountered were due to that or something with proton. Leaning towards early access. Everthing works and looks good otherwise.
Borked
Game is stated as native to linux systems, however it only presents a black screen upon opening.
Still definetly an early access game. Noticed only a few discomforts such as the music being too loud by default. Everything occured on windows environment only versions as well AFAIK. Everything was easily fixeable in the game options. No linux specific issues seen.
Multiplayer worked perfectly. No noticeable degredation anywhere
Works perfect on the steam experimental branch.
Does not start on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
%command% --disable-gpu --use-gl=no
Attempted proton major versions 5-13.6
up through proton experimental
along with each launch option seen in the past 7 or so posts. No sunshine. Most likely killer is the anti-cheat software. The launch option shown above is just the most recently used combo.
No issues noticed on 6.3-8. All more modern versions crash on startup. Wired xbox controller worked as expected too.
Works just like on Windows. No noticeable issues.
List of used settings/builds:
- latest Emperimental version of Satisfactory (The one with unreal engine 5)
- latest GloriousEggroll's proton build "GE-Proton8-13"
- 2560x1440 resolution
- Windowed Fullscreen
- graphics api "Directx 12"
- graphics settings set to "Ultra" + Foliage Load Distance set to "Cinematic"
- VSync active
- Lumen not active
Things are back to working as expected. Averaging 50+ fps on max graphical settings +vertical syncing without any of the hitches normally seen on Unraid engine games. Wasn't the case a few months ago back when the Satisfactory team were on their 1 month vacation. No more stuttering, and no more fps dips below 30fps; even within large factories. The game is just as demanding as it is on Windows though. It should be noted that this game appears to perform slightly worse than on Windows, but I've no complaints on it as is.
One detraction is that foliage high quality draw distance is shorter than I remember. Everything else looks great at a distance, but the trees and other greenery are closer to pixel blobs. It appears to be a design decision by the Satisfactory team/unreal engine 5 as there's no settings to change it. It'll most likely be changed in a later patch. This is, after all, the beta experimental version
Works perfectly
The openGL version doesn't work, but the default one works without any hitches
