consistently dropping a significant amount of fps makes it hard to recommend to a casual player
save game from the demo version did not carry over to release version
~30 min in consistently the fps drop dramatically. The game runs 100% flawless with proton experimental as far as I can tell until this point, then it drops to like 20 fps, which since it's turn-based is still playable, but ugly
runs great out-of-box, with one annoying caveat
Instant crash
I hit play and after about 1 sec it crashes without doing anything, not even an error message
Crashes when I click New Game
Installs and launches fine, but on integrated ryzen graphics with only 8gb of ram, it can't get passed the main menu. It seems like it is a ram issue, because it quickly fills the ram and swap after clicking 'New Game' and freezes with the music constantly looping and even the mouse cursor in-game freezes.
On my other pc with 16gb of ram and a dedicated graphics card (so it doesn't need to share system ram for vram) it runs perfectly fine
No lag, but no fps either so I connect no problem, but can't see or interact with anything
Completely unplayable for me, set graphics as low as they'll go and I am lucky to get ANY fps. Sometimes I get 60 fps, but usually I'm lucky to get 20
Runs decently well on my hardware if I only have one screen connected
Runs decently well after removing the second monitor and disabling steam overlay. Not sure if the overlay mattered, but after doing that I went from lucky to get 15 fps to ~45 fps @ 1080p low settings
Launches to black fullscreen on default proton 5.0.6, eventually just crashes
still needs work, performance is ok, but staring at a black screen for several minutes at launch looks bad. default proton 5.0-6
no response from the controller, didn't diagnose yet
took an uncomfortably long time to load while staring at a black screen, but after a few minutes, it does finally play. A little stutter happened when I first logged in, after that seemed to run well
if I alt+tab ever while playing, the game locks up and takes several minutes to crash. When I try to log out, the game seems to lock up
The winetricks to install faudio does take some experience in linux, but after that it works totally fine
needs faudio for voices, doesn't need the WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2_7=n,b”. I did:
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/489830/pfx/ winetricks faudio
after trying the Beyond Skyrim - Bruma mod (v1.3.3 cuz they changed their mesh loading in 1.5 and I couldn't figure that out) the audio was crackling mildly but constantly. Adding PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command% and rebooting seems to have fixed it completely
Using Pop_os! I would get occasional artifacts (bands of random color with a long frame time) after playing for a few hours; this doesn't happen on Xubuntu.
SKSE64 2.1.2 seems like it's still too alpha to work correctly, as It reports loaded, but none of my mods that use SKSE64 want to work. Skyui isn't working for example, and I'm positive it's installed correctly, so might need to wait for a SKSE64 update and/or a Skyui update
Can't install beyond what steam gives me
proton 5.0-2 gives an error message "Installer UI mode error," when trying to install from steam. Error message recommends adding '-i
It's tricky getting the game to work, it almost never runs out of the box on any of my systems, but once it works it works fine
After completing the installation using windows 10, there was a regular stutter where it would lose ~20fps every few seconds, adding PROTON_NO_ESYNC seemed to lessen the effect
stuttering gameplay and fps slightly lower than expected using windows as baseline
While installing, it recommended using -i GUI option to complete installation, which let it get further in the installation, but still crashed. Had to use windows to complete the installation
