The game runs perfectly fine.
Sometimes there may be connection issues, but those are game/server sided and do NOT depend on neither your OS, Steam, or Proton.
I played the whole game and all the DLCs without any issues in 45 hours, save for one single crash during The Knife of Dunwall playthrough.
A few times (not always fortunately) the game was either launching minimized or covered behind Steam's window. This started happening after the first time I Alt+Tab-ed out of and back into the game, previously I never experienced this (lesser) issue.
Played the whole story in 20 hours, experiencing random freezes only 3 times during loading and some frame drops in chapters 3 and 4.
Not always, but often upon start up the mouse cursor was missing (even though mouse clicks still worked) and would appear only after pressing the Windows key on the keyboard and then returning to the game.
Some framedrops, one time as low as 20 FPS, during some sections of chapters 3 and 4, while in all other instances the game ran stably around 60 FPS without ever going below 50 FPS.
3 times in 20 hours of playing the game froze during loading and I had to manually reboot the system because alt+tab-ing did nothing.
Played the whole story in about 13 hours without any problems, except rare frame-drops when loading a few encounters or areas.
I tried a couple of times to Alt+Tab out of the game and it didn't work.
Rare (no more than half a dozen times throughout the whole game) frame-drops from 60 to 30 FPS when loading some encounters or areas.
