Game requires a bit of tinkering.
Use the The Unofficial Patch (https://www.nexusmods.com/princeofpersiathetwothrones/mods/10) for fixing the resolution and other QoL stuff (editing options shouldn't be needed, works out of the box).
For controllers, use the Community layouts as they seem to be the best (life-saver for DS4). Might require inverting the horizontal axis as the game has double "cameras", so might as well make the default one work properly. Also reduce the camera sensitivity, default one is too big.
Camera also breaks down after a while, starts stuttering - nothing a game restart can't fix.
Overall, quite enjoyable experience after some tinkering.

Just requires manual inputting of gamepad controls.

By default the launch game button will be greyed out. In order to lauch the game you need to follow the instructions from pcgamingwiki
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Prince_of_Persia:_The_Two_Thrones#Launcher_not_working
Follow last guide in the section i.e., use Widescreen Launcher v2

Changed settings choosing win10 as the environment
I had to change to the community layout or manually invoke the mouse
Others have reported that they were able to launch the game and play just fine after recent proton updates. For me, the launcher would open, but the game would immediately close after hitting Launch game. It wasn't until after I switched to Proton Experimental and used protontricks to set the environment to Windows 10 that everything started to work like the previous games.

Modified community layout for controls. In the beginning simply emulated mouse and used Steam + x button to bring up keyboard and type in profile name.
Inverted horizontal axis on right joystick and reduced sensitivity
Thermal TDP 3-4 W
After about 20 minutes of tinkering I just couldn't get the controls to work at all.
In gameplay only the Steam Button + Right Trackpad work as camera, and the B button to enter the menu. I was unable to move the prince at all. Navigating the menu worked correctly with Left Joystick, A, and B.
I tried the two community control layouts, but both advised disabling the gamepad camera controls. I wasn't able to remove the mappings. I tried mapping the unused R5 paddle button to delete, but then the A button stopped working and I could no longer accept any meny changes. After that I gave up.
For better audioquality use ProtonGE
in alcuni punti la qualità cala in maniera drastica
Played the whole story in about 13 hours without any problems, except rare frame-drops when loading a few encounters or areas.
I tried a couple of times to Alt+Tab out of the game and it didn't work.
Rare (no more than half a dozen times throughout the whole game) frame-drops from 60 to 30 FPS when loading some encounters or areas.

Works fine out of the box on Proton. I installed D9VK and it worked great too, even when testing it with the new ACO compiler.

At least with a controller plugged in, the camera spins endlessly. The controller input didn't work at all until right-clicking on the game and selectively disabling Steam Input.

Like native.

Played with KB + Mouse, no gamepad. Awkward controls, but I don't think that's Proton's fault

With gamepad connected, camera keeps spinning non stop. Without gamepad, using keyboard + mouse, the game is Platinum (flawless).

Tested it for 30 minutes. Everything seems to be working fine

THE GAME INSTALLS AND RUNS BUT AT THE POINT YOU GAIN CONTROL OF THE PRINCE THE CAMERA GOES INTO A CONTINUOUS ROTATION. NOT SPENT A LOT OF TIME INVESTIGATING BUT GAME IS UNPLAYABLE LIKE THIS. TRIED REDUCING SENSITIVITY AND INVERTING CAMERA CONTROL, HAD NO EFFECT. I THINK MISALIGNED GAMEPAD INPUT/SENSITIVITY SETTINGS ARE CAUSING THIS.
