The menus do not appear. This is frustrating, but they are still perfectly functional despite not being visible. You can scroll through them and the item you are on will show down below. In this way the game is playable. Performance is good and I can tell no in-game performance penalty. Cutscenes, gameplay, menus, and in-game menus were tested.
For the most part the game runs just as on Windows. The only difference I could tell is that after around 20 minutes of playing, the game's performance tanks, and the game must be restarted. This is with the lowest graphics setting preset.
The problem where the game would sometimes lag after a while when switching zones no longer happens. I have noticed no difference in the Linux to Windows in the menus, single-player, multiplayer, invades, etc. There is no difference in performance.
This one is sad because it's so close to being perfect. The menus are fine, the graphics are smooth, performance is good, but because of a few anti-piracy functions the developers coded in, bosses do not spawn and a few classes are missing. This makes progress beyond an early point in the game impossible.
Online matchmaking doesn't work, but custom multiplayer games and the campaign work great.

I used GE's proton from here: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/4.21-GE-1-MCC-2
In the menu key presses often don't register. The game itself has a lot of latency which takes away a lot of the satisfaction. Random lag bombs happen sometimes.
