It is probably an issue with me because people seem to have the game work fine.
The game should run properly in 1080p on my hardware, but it runs terribly with 30-40fps stuttering from time to time regardles of graphics settings. After a single death the fps drops to ~10 and refuses to go back up until a pc reset.
CDPR logo then a horrid black void of nothingness (with fancy sounds!)
I can't tinker with my settings, I just wanted to fire up the game, tried different proton versions, all produce the same error. I should have everything up to date. I hope sometime soon it will work.
Yeah it works out of the box pretty well.
Sometimes if the pc goes inactive or the window is tabbed out of it might crash. Happend a few times. (2-3x)
I'd say it is casually playable.
Usually it ran fine, after 3-4 hours of playtime in a single session, specifically around the crystal sage and it's swamp area the game started to run at 6-14fps. A reset solved the issue for a few more hours, sometimes it just becomes unplayable, but usually after a long time and reseting solves it. Also for me out of the box it did not run on max settings, probably a problem with shaders, dynamic effects and particle effects as lowering those solved the issue.
Perfect out of the box.
Didn't use DSfix, worked like a charm anyways.
I would say until the performance issues are solved, buy this with a grain of salt.
As you can probably see to the side I should have more than enough to run this game. I don't ask for much, I could live with stable 30+, I am forgiving towards linux gaming. However, the obviously low requirement game ran with 20fps tops on max graphics, then I turned it all the way down to potato, it proceeded to run at 24-26fps till the end of the tutorial. The first mission against two skeletons in the post tutorial startup scenario ran at 10 frames per seconds on low. That is unacceptable given my hardware. :( No missing textures or graphical glitches tho.
It crashed exactly twice, both were at startup, after that it started up fine 4-5 times. Have not played long enough (1h because of afforementioned performance issues) to say if this is a problem during gameplay too.
I hope this does not discourage anyone too much, the game is fine and fun, can't wait for a proper campaign mode. Just watch your playtime and performance, and if it is not satisfactory, refund in time.
Might just be my system not performing tho.
Worked out of the box for me, definitely platinum, no issues even 50 hours into the game.
Worked perfectly until yesterday (2022.11.29). Today the game refuses to launch. ME Andromeda launched, but not MELE.
If it gets fixed or if I find a fix I will update the review and give it the thhen appropriate details.
2,25 borked warning
The game used to run fine, when I had enough of tekken 7 ranked bs I always went to soul calibur, now it won't even start, and you'll get banned for even trying to fiddle with the proton options and launching the game a few times. I did not tinker much, and I reverted everything back, it used to work out of the box for me, but not anymore :( wait for fix, but for now avoid buying for linux only systems.
As I said, for casual play this is perfectly fine, you might ger some microstutters in the firestorm citadel, but even that is playable.
Me and my mates picked this gem up recently, the game is fairly playable out of the box. Normal missions work just fine, but in the shadow lair the game shat itself, I had sub 15, sometimes sub 5 fps. For casual play it is fine, but don't do any "raiding" on linux if you can. (This might be a java x86 issue, my frined updated to x64 on windows and his performance is fine since then)
It was either the game or my connection, couldn't tell, sometimes it shits itself a little, but overall I'd say I played worse runing games :)
Great game for the steam deck, hidden gem that fits the control options so well, also pretty good battery life while playing.
I enabled back buttons, set R4 as the map button bound to whichever the default keyboard button it is ingame, and R5 as the left mouse click. L4 and L5 were both dash.
Special places like shadow lair cause the game's framerate to tank to single digits, but that happens on my PC as well. The game is still steam deck playable out of the box.
Either the game engine or the wifi I was on caused me to sometimes have microlags, like movement being a little jerky, but not often enough to make the game any worse.
It's not perfect, but ir IS playable
I would say most people who require a stable 60 or higher framerate, no stuttering or screen tear would not enjoy it the way I played it.
Based on the recommended settings of the game I'm between minimum and recommended requirements with my hardware. The game runs terribly for me on low and medium settings (4-12 fps), on high it runs at around 35-40fps which is a bit unusual, but would be fine for me, however it dips and stutters every few minutes for a few seconds and that is a bit annoying. Not unplayable but not comfortable. Possibly caused by lack of vram :(.
All in all the game is barely playable to me in a sense that I am not at all happy with the performance I get, however I can put up with it for I enjoy the game enough to not care about it too much.
