I didn’t initially let me join a private room, but after switching between NA and EU and back, it let me join. No other issues or tweaking required, not even altering the launch options.
Installs fine, but Ubisoft Connect won’t run
Trying a variety of different Proton versions (incl. custom GE build) and a variety of launch options (incl. none) and removing its directory under compatdata in between to let it do all the initial setup under each Proton version… Every time, Ubisoft Connect loads up, does a self-update, restarts itself, and then “detect[s] an unrecoverable error and must shut down.”
I’ve run the game previously ages ago under older Protons just fine, so maybe something in my environment is blocking it now, but at the end of the day, right now it is not running at all.
“Can’t initiate EAC”
Game starts up fine… but then can’t initiate EAC so forces you to exit out before even getting to the main menu. (I also tried with Proton Experimental and my local GE build, same result.)
Game’s anticheat kicks you out of lobbies as soon as games start.
Game would launch with Proton 7.0-4 as well as custom-built GE but when you start the game there’s a shot where you pan down from the sky over the castle, and the game would consistently freeze or crash at this point. Proton Experimental allowed me to move past this part. Haven’t tried to play with any of the other Protons since, but may try and switch back to the GE build to see if it’ll run fine once I’m past that panning shot.
Running the game without any modifications results in a pop up saying "Please run Settings first (error: open registry key)" and then closes once you’ve clicked ok on that.
Game ran perfectly smooth for me with Proton 5.0-9 at maximum graphical settings playing online with two friends.
Game is not available yet, I was playing the playtest version, build ID 7645942. I did load up a private game with just myself and tried running around and do a few things, and everything seemed to work as they were supposed to.
EAC prevents Linux/Proton users from joining servers.
I was initially able to create a characters, but seems like I can’t even do that much anymore.
I press "Play" in Steam (w/o having made any tweaks) and it launches and runs without issues. Set graphics settings to highest in game and turned off vsync and get consistently 70+ FPS.
