Make sure you've got official steam Proton 5.0 installed before you first run the game with Proton GE, or else not all of the proton fixes will work.
After getting the proton fixes through launching the game with Proton-GE for the first time, I switched to Proton Experimental for actually playing the game, since my racing wheel isn't detected on Proton-GE.
I got the content manager and shaders patches working using this guide:

Replace "proton" in the guide's launch options with the path to the proton version you want to use, if it doesn't work.

Add the above launch args. Then, rename xaudio2_9.dll to xaudio2_8.dll (from https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.XAudio2.Redist/) and add it to the game folder. Then everything should work perfectly. Opening movie won't work with newer proton/ge versions.
Opening plays with GE-Proton8-9, but has no sound. Otherwise, the game seems to play perfectly fine.

Opening plays with GE-Proton8-9. The above launch options fix the opening's audio without having to modify any of Proton's files. Everything else works perfectly without tweaks.
Just be sure to get the free 18+ patch, as the base Steam release is highly incomplete without it. It's just copy-pasting a single file into your game directory.

I tested on the latest Proton Experimental, and GE-Proton8-9, and on both the game would crash immediately with an error. However, it seems to work flawlessly on 8.0-3.
So far, some Deck users have reported the movies to stutter a bit, but on my hardware that hasn't been an issue.
