Loading levels is slow. Takes a while to get stable framerate after level load.
Multiplayer COOP can cause crashes. Browsing more than 1 page of previous SHiFT partners will crash the game. Sometimes have a hard freeze in multiplayer.
Multiplayer is not possible if you have virtual network interfaces such as docker0 or lxcbr0 . Keep your network interfaces simple before starting the game. VPN wasn't a problem.
You might have to manually install media libraries with a new install.
I've been using Proton 5.0-10 for a long time and it works.
Game doesn't boot out of the box with Proton Experimental or 5.13-4
I tried different Kernels, different Nvidia drivers, different startup options. I only successfully got the menu to load a few times, but the main game crashes.
Could get launcher menu, but main game executable crashes.
I tried all the different startup options listed above this report. I switched from 4.15 to 5.4 linux Kernel. I tried both Proton Experimental and Proton 5.13-4. After adding PROTON_LOG=1 and inspecting the logs I see the game is crashing while loading DLLs while it boots---often during the normal wine DLLs.
From what I can tell from the logs it spends about 10 seconds crashing while trying to run REDprelauncher.exe --launcher-skip .
The first important story mission has dark portions. Use your scanner.
I think the game itself can be generally unstable.
With proton experimental PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=15 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip
Used proton 6.3-7 and it worked fine. I tried 5.0-10 and that did not work.
If you have high quality textures and/or texture streaming on the game was crashing frequently in multiplayer. After I turned off the texture streaming and reduced to low or medium quality I didn't have a problem.
Lutris with lutris-ge-proton7 runner.
Installed Epic Games Store with Lutris. Then installed Tiny Tina's Wonderland within that Lutris Epic Games Store.
Before I used GE-Proton7 with Lutris I couldn't get multiplayer to work and I tried firejail and other options to no avail. But installing the lutris-ge-proton7 to run Epic Games Store and turning off ESYNC in lutris launcher made everything work for me.
Lutris + Epic Games Store + lutris-ge-proton7 runner solved multiplayer problems. In game video playback worked out of the box.
