Didn't boot, complains about missing Uplay launcher and asks you to reinstall the entire game. Lacking info on how to bypass this.
(For example, Elder Scrolls Online Launcher didn't work either but could bypass it with information posted by users on it's DB. Here there's very little info.)
At least make it so it doesn't crash and it would be 10/10. I can understand the little lagg there is but the crashes are many.
Stuttering which I think is a cause of the cpu being a bit old.
you're supposed to be able to hold the menu button long to come to save/load. doesn't work. everything ells seems fine
The game seems to be running fine on most areas, Lake of Nine is a big issue and can make the game crash which is a bit to much.
mixxing with the menu and graphic settings lowers the preformance no matter what you do and you have to restart the game in order to get the actual results up.
On Fedora the game refuses to go into windowed mode, using proton fixed this for me. Game runs just as well otherwise as on native.
Kicks you back to menu seconds after game is loaded
tested with GE 6 and 7. All the same.
Game says "bad or missing configuration" seems like anti cheat is doing stuff again
tested with GE 6 and different versions of 7. Also tried normal proton experimental. did not want to get solved.
Still bad or missing configuration.
New patch but still no update on the EAC. Meaning we still cannot play it.
Could not get it to start.
Also tested with Proton Experimental and GE-26
After reading linuxfrag report that he was able to play i attempted to install the game. As I use Fedora 36 myself I was not able to replicate the results. On Proton 7.0-3 it would not install or boot. On proton Experimental it was able to install and start but seconds after a game started i was kicked out to start with a 10 minute deserter penalty. Could not replicate the results and game still doesn't seem to have had any updates on this.
Still no change from Hirez.
tested with ProtonGE7-30, no changes
New patch, decided to test and install. Tested with Proton Experimental, ProgonGE and Proton 7. Wouldn't even get into the initial menu this time.
Will still kick you out 3 seconds into the game.
Anti Cheat still doesn't want to support smite players on Linux. Tested the game with GE7-43 and with Proton Experimental.
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
During install, after "install anywhere" has finished loading there will be a black screen of nothingness and no progression. Just hit enter and it will continue install the game through the launcher.
As posts noted down below. Hit enter on the black screen during the installation of the game.
The addon folder can be a bit tricky to find. If you're on the steam flatpak version you should find it in home/user/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/306130/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns. Make a shortcut to it is my suggestion!
installing addons is a bit of a pain since Minion program doesn't run out of the box on linux and can be tricky to configure if you're new. This will be the biggest downside of playing this game on linux.
Good luck out there!
Started out with native version and had a quite laggy experience. Beyond that when I made a jump to the airplane at the very start of the game the whole camera glitched off to the distance and I wasn't able to continue.
Tested Proton 7.0-1 and worked like a charm. Also steam cloud kicked in and retrieved some files for me (I think Steam sees Proton Raider and Linux Raider as two different games?).
With proton TressFX started working and the game ran much smoother. I'm on Fedora myself so if you're on another distro your expereince might very.
But since game files cannot cross between native and proton I suggest choosing one of them and sticking to it. (I guess you can manually move the files? have not tested this).
