Works exactly the same as it would on Windows, absolutely no difference.
Headache to get running at first but runs identically or better than Windows. G29 wheel works flawlessly.
Occasional stuttering.
Game doesn't launch at first.
Remove the 24410 folder from the library if it exists. Set proton version to 5.0-10 and press play (it will fail to launch)
Open terminal and cd
into your SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/244210/pfx folder and run the command winecfg
.
Change the windows version to Windows XP
Now run protontricks 244210 dotnet472
in terminal.
It'll take an unreasonably long amount of time and you have to click through .NET installers. PATIENCE!
After that, cd
back into SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/244210/pfx, run winecfg
and change it back to Windows 7.
Then, run the game on Proton 5.0-10 again. After that you can change Proton back to 6.3-5 for better FPS and stability. You might get a random DLL error when launching. I clicked cancel to skip past it and I was able to play no problems.
Eh, it's like 50/50. Everything works fine besides traffic. At least for me, I run 15 FPS or so with traffic enabled.
Everything else runs fine besides traffic which reduces your FPS to 15 or so (at least for me)
Most of the game runs fine. Sometimes physics act weird and automatic transmissions won't upshift.
Occasional stutters, unplayable with traffic enabled (10-15FPS).
Automatic transmissions won't upshift due to game logic & physics degredation
Overall, it's playable. Haven't tried the more instensive maps but I don't have high expectations for them.
After alt+tabbing you couldn't get back by just alt+enter.
-10 FPS compared to Windows 10 and frequent stuttering
After switching the game to Proton Experimental the game runs amazing, no problems.
Absolutely unplayable on Proton 6.3-7, but Proton Experimental work fine.
Performance degredation when playing online, minor annoying bugs, overall it's all good.
Singleplayer runs perfectly like it's native. Online runs at 1/2 the framerate that singleplayer does and there's quite a bit of suttering.
Not that significant but noteworthy. When you first enter the game it, online or singleplayer it toggles the alt-menu immediately so you might accidentally switch characters. When navigating menus, pressing escape opens the map instead of exiting a submenu or the menu itself. Use backspace instead.
I can't achieve over 12 frames on the lowest settings. MP probably doesn't work either due to EAC.
Borderless wouldn't activate
Maxed out at 12FPS on lowest settings.
When launching the game, I get 2 errors. First one saying some of the DLLs are not signed and the other one saying file integrity of the game is compromised.
Generally, pretty terrible experience. Playable, but not good.
When fullscreened, it would keep you locked in the game and not let you Alt-Tab out
Input feels kinda sluggish
Play with 5.13-6! I still get 1/3 the frames I get on Windows but at least it's playable at 40-80 FPS. With 6.3-5 I got 12 FPS max.
- Some DLL signatures are not signed 2. File integrity compromised when launching the game
Multi play is greyed out in the main menu
Locked in windowed, changing any video settings instantly crashes the game. Tried Proton 6.3-5 as well as 6.14-GE-1.
ANY change to video settings crashes the game. I am locked in a super small window unable to do anything.
Game crashes when ANY changes are made to video settings.
The inability to change video settings is quite frustrating and all that hastle to get the settings you want is a headache but it's doable.
Stuttering. Perhaps will solve overtime as game caches more stuff.
Changing ANY of the video settings crashes the game. You need to install the game on Windows, save your desired video settings to generate the video.dat config file. Then, put the video.dat on an USB and copy/paste the file to:
SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1465360/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/SnowRunner/base/storage
It might look like it's a normal text file after you've copied or extracted the video.dat but don't worry, the game still reads from it. But, DO NOT edit or save the file. Doing so will instantly break it and the game will stop reading from it. If you need to change some video settings you need to go back to your Windows machine, save the settings there and copy the file over to Linux again.
When there's heavy lag, inputs will become unresponsive.
